 Getting back to the Mac Mini, we just need to crack the seal, and we're free to explore the unibody splendor of the Mac Mini. Now, once again, nothing has really changed here on the design. We still have that unibody anodized aluminum shell sporting that black Apple logo at the top. The front of the Mac Mini is still missing the optical drive, which it lost last year, but holds on to the IR receiver for home media applications, as well as an LED status indicator

 The fans, they ramped up as long as they could go and it really didn't do that great whenever you're trying to actually look at the emulator. The emulator was very glitchy. It was buggy. It was very slow, unresponsive

 It's starting to use a lot more resources even with the SSD and the RAM. It was still struggling. It wasn't very responsive. And this was a basic code, right? I'm not a mobile developer, so I actually didn't even write any code

 It was buggy. It was very slow, unresponsive. It wasn't smooth. Even with 16 gigs of RAM, it had a really hard time in Android Studio

How does the 2012 Mac Mini stack up in 2020? Is it still a viable workstation for programmers?Can you save some cash and get in on the juicy Mac Ecosystem and have some fun times coding without breaking the bank? The Mac Mini of yesteryear with its i7, 16 gigs of ram and 2tb SSD takes on 2020 in this battle for the ages......


I put this thing through the paces in Final Cut Pro X. Adobe Premeire Pro, Geek Bench, Android Studio and Xcode.

Mac Mini Late 2012 Review in 2020! Programmers Dream?

 I'm more going to be talking about what you guys should be looking for in a Mac Mini and why newer or older might not seem the best if I can get this on there. There. Oh yeah, it's a bit scraped up. That was not me

 And with Rosetta, you know, most applications are working on the Mac and I'm really happy with that. So for you used buyers out there who want to get a really good deal, this is why the Mac Mini 2012 is the best. Don't go with the 2011, don't go with the 2014. 2012 is the best

 And how do they compare? So this one, of course, you know, has that i7 and all the goodies. If we look on the back here, we got it's upside down. But if I can get my camera to focus on, we got our good power cable, our on, our gigabit ethernet. I don't think this is 10 gigabit because they don't offer it, but it is a gigabit, I believe

 So remember that. But I personally really like Mac OS Mojave. And it's quite stable. And I really like the design on Mac OS Mojave, rather than what they have on Big Sur

 But enough of that. We're going to be talking about Mac Minis. So recently, Apple announced their big Mac M1 Mac Mini. So that was pretty nice

With Mac OS Big Sur effectively ending the legendary 2012 Mac mini's long prosperous life, the 2014 model now seems like it is the default choice for many budget oriented buyers, but here's why you instead should purchase the older 2012 model.
