  ---  Update (after 1 year): I have since installed a cheap 3M Filtrete 5 micron prefilter (3US-AF01) upstream (see last picture). Of course the efficacy of the prefilter depends on your own water situation, but for me I've found it increased the life of the downstream Aquasana / AO Smith filters 2x. This has helped reduce my overall cost.

 - In the meantime, Amazon has subscribe-and-save for the AO Smith (same company) branded version of the filter: AO-MF-ADV-R so that is one way to save 15% on replacement filters. - I would not recommend ordering from Aquasana directly - their free shipping is crazy slow. Been over 15 days since my replacement filter payment went through, and it still has not arrived. I ended up ordering another filter from Amazon after I couldn't stand it anymore

  ---  Update (after 2 months): I removed a star from the review, here is why: Flow rate continued to drop over time, at about 2 month mark, it became such a small trickle, it became unusable (hot water line will dominate, so it becomes very difficult to achieve a "warm" water temperature, unable to engage kitchen faucet spray modes due to low water pressure, etc). Basically I needed to order a replacement filter. At nearly $70 / filter, every 2 months, this becomes really expensive to maintain.  - I believe the only suitable mitigation is to install a cheaper prefilter upstream, maybe 1-5 micron, so this filter doesn't get clogged

Installation was not difficult but a video would have been helpful (not even on manufacturers website). Plastic connectors come up short on quality. First taste test did not reveal much difference. Hope it improves with time

Problematic install, slower flow rate, but still well worth it

  In case it worries anyone in humid climates like mine, the cold lines and filter body can condense on the outside, if you're seeing some moisture there after running the cold water a while.

1 Year Update: second filter change and going strong. No issues. I stand by my review and think this is the best under sink, non-osmosis filter for almost anyone.  I love the crisp water from this filter

Got this thing because I was concerned about the quality of my tap water. It was occasionally running brown due to nearby construction. I was also tired of having to fill up my Brita and waiting for it to filter and chill just to get water I felt comfortable drinking.   I think this filter is better suited for bathroom use as it is always filtering the cold water. In a bathroom setting this would be giving you filtered water for brushing your teeth, and now you can drink the cold water from your bathroom faucet too. In a kitchen setting you would be using filtered water to not only drink, but also to wash dishes with. I suppose it would be good for filling pots to boil water, rinse vegetables, and a few other circumstances, but it seems more of a waste

Excellent Filter System, Perhaps Best for a Bathroom Sink.

  Here's the part I don't like about this filter and why I would choose a different one next time. The hook up componets are all plastic or a plastic-like material. You have to be sure you are turning the bolts tight enough to seal the line, but--and this is pointed out by the manufacturer--too tight and it will crack and you will have a leak. Added this filter as an upstream filtration system for my LG Refrigerator since they do not make filters to remove pesticides, herbicides, heavy metals and so forth for the water and icemaker in the refrigerator (this is new technology for refrigerator filters).   Changing the filter is also quite easy, just rotate the filter counter clock wise and it will release from the base, the only down side for me, is that the water flow was heavily affected, it's almost %50 down in pressure, which became very weak, for such only one stage carbon filter, and for that reason I gave it only 4 stars. But for everything else, it deserves a 5 stars and the price can't be beat. I highly recommend it, if you don't care about the water pressue.

It's a good quality filter, the water does taste decent, but still has some taste to it, not like a 7 stage filter. The design is easy to install and replace the filter, everything is very straight forward just drill 6 holed and install your filter and screw the bolts, and you're done.
