 It's more than 200 pixels per inch at 1280 by 720, and it looks damn impressive. Anyway, now it's wi-fi only, and this one happens to be eight gigabytes and that's a bad combo if you're one of those people who's away from wi-fi all the time and wants to save stuff for offline use, which is why I'm thinking go with the 16 gigabyte or there may be something along the lines of a Nexus 10, perhaps with a cellular radio somewhere in the near future. So in the end, is the Nexus 7 a good product? Is it worth the 200 for this eight gig version? Here, Google spends about 200 to make it and then sells it for about 200, but they're trusting that you will spend enough time in the Google Play store on this device to start giving Google more money and make it worth itself. They even give you a 25 credit to the Google Play store

 you know what else cost two hundred dollars? The eight gigabyte Ipod Touch. Okay, so that gives you a good idea of the bang for buck that you get out of this guy. And that bang comes from a 1.3 gigahertz quad core Tegra 3 chip and 1 gigabyte of ram all behind the scenes powering Android 4

 I mentioned at the beginning of the video that it's a 200 tablet and we've seen some pretty crappy 200 tablets in terms of build quality, but this one's fine. Trust me to keep it thin like this. It's sealed into one rigid design so you have to twist it really hard to get it to flex. and this also means no expandable storage or replaceable battery

. the 8 gigabyte Nexus 7 costs 200. you know what else cost two hundred dollars? The eight gigabyte Ipod Touch. Okay, so that gives you a good idea of the bang for buck that you get out of this guy

 So in the end, is the Nexus 7 a good product? Is it worth the 200 for this eight gig version? Samsung DeX on the Tab already does the vast majority of what 12L is intended to do. That said, it'll be better in the long run for \*all\* devices to have these features baked in at the OS level so that devs aren't needing to target specific devices.

That's all to say no, Google doesn't need to make a tablet, they just need to improve the foundation of Android so that other, much better devices/OEMs, can deliver better experiences.

I am also excited for the implications this has for DeX on phones as there are still issues with apps running to external monitors and things like scaling and generally being unhappy having their viewports manipulated.

I have a Pixel Slate, and it's honestly a fucking great device. Much like Google with their Apps, if they had just stick with it and updated it, it would still be a fantastic device. But instead, they forgot it, and tried something totally different afterwards. 

The saving grace for the Slate is it's running Chrome OS, and has enough under the hood that it should last me for some time still before slowing down.

Absolutely, there is just nothing in the Android tablet ecosystem like the new ipad mini. Everything in the 8in range is low end garbage. There are some nice tablets but they are all huge. I love my tab s7+ but oh boy is it big and the tab S8 ultra is only gonna be bigger

I have a Lenovo Duet Chromebook and I can run all the Android apps I want and it works great.

It comes with the keyboard+touchpad cover, wall USB charger and USB-C headphones adaptor for under $400.

I can't see why anyone would want an Android tablet when ChromeOS tablets are a thing.

The Duet feels like a Nexus 7 to me. Not top of the range but great at the price point for what it does.

I can't even imagine how big the quick setting toggles would  be on a Pixel tablet! Maybe 3" wide each? Lol

As long as whatever they do doesn't make it harder for Samsung to make their tablet UI that's all that matters at this point because they're by far the best at it.

Sold it and bought xiaomi pad 5 for 350e snappy with 120hz, love that sh\*\*.

I agree with a lot of the comments about Galaxy Tabs here and I absolutely love my Galaxy Tab S7+, I think it does a lot of what Android 12L promises really well already. However I would probably be a lot less happy if I had paid anything near MSRP for it. They're amazing tablets but at full price they're still a hard sell.

The Pixel 6 and Android 12L have me wishing for a new Google tablet

 The fact that this an OFFICIAL Google Android supported device means that there are less headaches with software/firmware compatibility, not saying there aren't any. This device performs beyond my expectations, which is why I got one for myself - only 32gb. Both my girlfriends and my Nexus 7s are refurbished 2012s. They both looked spotless and had perfect screens, and still do

) The display is exceptionally vivid, 213dpi - 1280*800, nice and crisp. With either MX player or BSplayer, video playback is smooth as silk - thanks to a 1.3ghz quad core Tegra 3 processor and 1gb ram. Apps and games are working great

 Comparing specs, limitations, and prices. I researched for about 3 weeks. The result was the Nexus 7, best value/dollar ratio. The 32gb wasn't available so we got the 16gb

 You can actually fit this in a pocket if you have a really large pocket or inside a coat pocket. This is better suited for reading books because it's lighter weight and can be held in one hand pretty comfortably. Now, in terms of battery performance, this does have a 4325 milliamp battery, which is good for about 9 hours of video playback or 10 hours of web browsing or 10 hours of EE reading or 300 hours on standby. Now In conclusion, I'm very impressed by the Nexus 7 tablet, especially at 199

 Obviously, the iPad is an ear 10 inch device, so it's quite a bit larger than the 7-inch tablet, so the 7-inch tablet is ideal for portability. I remember when Google released Nexus 7 it was actually a well regarded tablet and it was only $199.

To be replacing this with the Pixelbook Go is a damn shame. It is 2021 and we are all constantly on the go. They cannot say there isn't a market, look at the Microsoft Surface. 

If they would have put their time and effort into bettering the Slate, maybe releasing a Slate 2, instead of launching a whole new device that actually feels like reverting in the technology timeline (I mean come on, Pixelbook Go is pretty much barebones nothing special laptop from 7+ years ago) they would have probably had a very good, well recieved product

Got in on the best buy price error for the slate + keyboard combo. Huge blessing as it's my oldest's primary device for online learning. He loves it.

It's 2 year old hardware. It makes sense to stop making and selling it now. It is too bad Google didn't have the replacement ready at the same time.

It's not like Google is abandoning the device. The Pixel Slate will continue to get [updates into 2026](https://support.google.com/pixelslate/answer/9413910?hl=en).

[Update: Final] Pixel Slate discontinued and removed from Google Store

 I can easily stash it in my purse, no specialized case needed. It's a great buy at under $200.  The Android OS runs pretty smoothly with few hiccups. The Google app store has a stunning variety of free programs, and the built-in e-reader also allows for purchasing a wide selection of titles, although I have not yet used this feature

Great product for extremely reasonable price

I don't think I would do it differently if I went to uni again today, I probably wouldn't even bother with a laptop. I'm sure the iPad Pro is night and day compared to Nexus 7, but I still don't think it's as quick and flexible as paper during classes, and it's a pretty expensive notebook replacement. Edit: this was computer science uni, so computers were part of just about every subject otherwise.

This is a student's perspective who wants the iPad to be something it's not. I'd never use it as a replacement for a computer but to supplement it.

I’m currently using only an iPad 10.2 2019 with a Bluetooth keyboard as my only computer in college (Environmental Studies major). I love it and have had less problems than you would think. I dream of the day when I can afford one of the new iPad Airs or Pros. If you have questions ask away!
