 Except it isn't quite as simple as that you see, because do you think is inherently more expensive to implement than Freesync? My Tamiya patches have sought to slightly disguise that fact by never making two models with otherwise identical specs. So here, the Mg279q has essentially the same display capabilities as the PG 279 Q, but Asus has used a different stand design and lowered the build quality results. Asus MG279Q review - Freesync, 144Hz and IPS in one

I managed to get my hands on a OC 3080ti and am thinking of either going 2k or 4k...

So far I'm thinking of going for the 4k 160hz LG (though likely not running at 160hz, probably 144hz due to cable limitation I think and most games won't get to that cap anyway).

Lots of people say go 2k as we are not really there yet for 4k, benchmarks often show around 70-90 fps.

I keep thinking though that people saying this might be biased, or thinking a bit one dimentionally, only looking at the pure numbers and that is it rather than thinking more practically. Here are some reasons...

\-Soon we will have DLSS in titles, a lot of the benchmarked ones don't have it.

\-Ray tracing seem to rarely change much still, and hurts fps a ton. No RT but with DLSS = very nice fps gains making 4k a lot more viable.

\- What about many other genre of games, not just these AAA titles that hit your graphics card super hard? 

\-Along with RT as mentioned, do a lot of the other effects matter that much? Are you really going to notice them off?

I do really wonder if people should be thinking of running 4k more along the lines of "can we get good fps with 4k textures, but not counting the requirement of having ALL effects on". 

Being able to run 4k textures seems a major win. I feel like I'd totally be willing to turn off RT and maybe other effects to get more decent fps if I can still have my crispy 4k textures?

3080Ti 4k for the crispy textures!

 but I'm sure this will change from time to time. The advantages of this and the advantages of this over the Acer and it's TN panel cousin is the fact that it has an IPS panel, so it beats the TN cousin in that respect. and then it beats the ASA in terms of build quality and design is a nicer looking display. It's a nicer looking stand and it's very difficult to pick between the two

 I've noticed quite a lot from the comments that you guys have been saying that you prefer a monitor that looks good but isn't overly styled, which this definitely fits in this category. It's something that most people would want to have on their desk without being outlandish or without being boring. Now, the bezels themselves are fairly small. I Definitely describe them as slim

 This isn't something I think would fall over or would have too much wobble when it's on your desk. Move around the back of the monitor and you'll find the input and the buttons that will control the on-screen display. Again, the back is reasonably styled, but it's not really meant to be gamer ish. It's just nice plain design that doesn't really look boring Port wise, there's so many here, this is one of the big benefits of freezing

 you can alternatively use a third-party stand with a visa mount if you prefer and then you just grab the base of the stand, attach it to bottom of your stand monitor combo, and you are ready to go. Once you've got this thing on your desk, you'll notice that the build quality and the general design is really nice. I've noticed quite a lot from the comments that you guys have been saying that you prefer a monitor that looks good but isn't overly styled, which this definitely fits in this category. It's something that most people would want to have on their desk without being outlandish or without being boring

Im stuck between getting a 34'' ultrawide VA or an 27'' IPS, both monitor has 144hz refresh.  
I currently have dual 24'' monitors.  
Do people feel ultrawide outweights the potential benefit of IPS?  
Its for multiuse - gaming, work, watching movies etc.
