The best budget office monitor we've tested is the ASUS ProArt Display PA278QV. It's an older version of the ASUS ProArt Display PA278CV without a USB-C input, which explains its more budget-friendly price. It also has a 27 inch screen with a 1440p resolution and 75Hz refresh rate. The viewing angles are great, which means the image remains accurate when viewed from the side, and it gets more than bright enough to combat glare, even in well-lit settings.

If you often struggle to get a comfortable viewing position, the good news is that the ergonomics are superb. You can adjust the height, tilt, and swivel and rotate the screen to portrait mode. Text clarity is decent, and color accuracy is good out of the box. Unfortunately, although designed for content creators, it doesn't have full sRGB coverage, which is somewhat disappointing.

There's no USB-C input, but you still get four USB 3.0 ports and a USB-B upstream port, meaning you can plug your peripherals or dongles directly into the monitor. Lastly, it has a great response time and low input lag if you want to play some games on the side. If you can spend a bit more and can find one, it's better to go with the newer version, but this is still a good alternative if you're on a tighter budget.

The ASUS ProArt Display PA278QV is the best budget 1440p office monitor that we've tested. It's a great office monitor designed for media creation. It has an excellent SDR color gamut, with nearly complete coverage of the sRGB color space used by most desktop and web content. It also has very good color accuracy out of the box and excellent gradient handling, so it's a great choice for work that requires accurate colors.

Unlike the Gigabyte M27Q, it uses a standard RGB subpixel layout, so there are no issues with text or color fringing with apps that don't support ClearType. As expected for a budget monitor, it's a pretty basic display with few additional features. There are some unique overlays, including built-in screen rulers and A5/B5 letter-size overlays.

Unfortunately, it's not a great choice for dark rooms, as it has low contrast and mediocre black uniformity, so blacks look gray and cloudy in a dark room. It's a great choice for bright rooms, with impressive peak brightness and very good reflection handling, and it's a great monitor overall for most uses.

If you prefer something with better ergonomics, look into the ASUS ProArt Display PA278QV. It doesn't have as many features as the Gigabyte M27Q as it lacks HDR support and doesn't have a USB-C input, but the stand has a wide swivel range, and it can rotate into portrait mode, making this monitor a great choice if you need a vertical display. It performs well in bright rooms because it has great peak brightness and good reflection handling, meaning visibility won't be an issue. It also has very good out-of-the-box accuracy, and it has near-perfect coverage of the sRGB color space, but photo editors will be disappointed to know it has limited coverage of the Adobe RGB color space used in photo editing.

If you're looking for the best 1440p budget monitor, whether it be for office or gaming, the Gigabyte is a great choice. However, if you don't mind getting something with a lower 75Hz refresh that has remarkable ergonomics for office use, then check out the ASUS.

The best secondary monitor we've tested in the budget category is the ASUS ProArt Display PA278QV. It's a 27 inch model with a 1440p resolution and a 75Hz refresh rate. It means you get plenty of room for multitasking, text looks sharp, and the monitor feels more responsive than a typical 60Hz display. It has wide viewing angles that make it great for sharing content, and it gets bright enough to provide good visibility in well-lit settings.

It has quite a few extra features. There's a USB hub with four USB 3.0 ports and a USB-B upstream port, which means you can plug your peripherals or dongles into the monitor and have only a single USB cable leading to your PC, giving you extra ports and keeping your setup clean. It also has built-in speakers and a Virtual Scale feature that lets you preview documents in their actual sizes before printing.

Like most IPS panels, it isn't ideal for dark rooms because it has a mediocre contrast ratio that makes blacks look gray. Also, it doesn't cover the entire sRGB color space even though it's made for content creators, and it has limited Adobe RGB coverage. On the bright side, its response time is good enough for some light gaming on the side, and its ergonomics are superb. Overall, it's a great budget-friendly monitor that should please most people.

There are plenty of budget-friendly 1440p monitors that you can get and offer good overall performance, like the ASUS ProArt Display PA278QV. It's a step down from the LG 32GP850-B in terms of gaming performance because it has a lower 75Hz refresh rate and isn't designed for gaming, but that's normal for low-cost monitors, and instead, this monitor is great for office use and also good for content creators. It delivers excellent color accuracy thanks to its sRGB picture mode, so colors aren't oversaturated, and it also has an excellent SDR color gamut. Sadly, it doesn't support HDR, which is disappointing if you need to edit videos in HDR.

Despite its low cost, it's still well-built with outstanding ergonomics as you can easily adjust the screen, including rotating it into portrait mode in either direction. Its SDR peak brightness is great, and it has good reflection handling, so visibility isn't a problem in well-lit office spaces or rooms. While it has a few extra features, like four USB ports, it doesn't have a USB-C slot. If you want that, you'll have to pay more for a very similar model, the ASUS ProArt Display PA278CV.

If you need to buy a monitor on a budget for your Mac Mini, there are a few displays you can get, although you'll have to give up a few features found on more expensive options. If that interests you, the ASUS ProArt Display PA278QV is a great choice as it delivers impressive office performance. It doesn't have USB-C ports like the Dell U2723QE or the Dell S2722QC, so you have to connect with it via HDMI or a USB-C adapter. There aren't any display issues with it when connected to a macOS device, except when the device goes to sleep, as you need to disconnect and reconnect it. If you're using a Mac Mini, it's better to disable the sleep settings with this monitor.

It has a lower 1440p resolution than the Dell monitors above, but the text clarity is still decent. Despite its budget price, it has a dedicated sRGB mode with amazing accuracy, which is important if your work requires accurate colors. Its stand also offers incredible ergonomics as you can easily adjust it to your liking, and its wide viewing angles are ideal if you need to share your screen with someone else.

If you want something on a budget, a monitor like the ASUS ProArt Display PA278QV is a great choice. It has the same 27-inch screen as the Dell S2722QC, but with a lower 1440p resolution, the text clarity isn't as good, but it's still decent. It isn't ideal if you like the sharp text on the Dell, but if you find the native scaling on the 4k monitor too small, it's better to get a 1440p display like the ASUS because text naturally looks bigger. While this monitor is targeted towards content creators with its wide color gamut in SDR and amazing accuracy before calibration, it's also a great choice if you're a web programmer and you need to see accurate colors on webpages.

Although it doesn't have a USB-C input to connect your laptop to like on the higher-end models, this is the sacrifice you need to make for getting a budget-friendly monitor. However, it still has four USB-A ports so you can charge your devices while working or connect your peripherals, freeing up extra USB ports on your computer.

If you're looking for something on a budget, then the ASUS ProArt Display PA278QV is a great alternative to the Dell S2722QC. It's a different type of monitor because it has a 1440p resolution, which results in worse text clarity compared to the 4k resolution on the Dell, but that's one of the trade-offs of getting a cheaper monitor. Despite its low cost, it has an outstanding stand in terms of ergonomics, and you can rotate it into portrait mode in either direction. It also has a few extra features, like a USB hub with four slots, so you can connect your mouse and keyboard or other peripherals.

Its wide vertical viewing angle is excellent if you need to use it vertically, and you have it off to the side as the image remains consistent no matter where you view it from. If you want to use it in a bright room, it also gets bright enough to fight glare, and the reflection handling is very good. Unlike the Dell, it actually has an sRGB mode with amazing accuracy in SDR, but it doesn't support HDR, so you can't use it for video editing in HDR.

 So this brings us to the main question: should you buy this monitor? Well? Firstly, it's certainly a good option for content creators and media professionals working in the srgb color space. It has great out-of-the-box color accuracy as well as usb-c connectivity and some useful screen overlays for different print sizes. It has great viewing angles with good brightness and reflection handling, which is great for office work, because it's geared towards media professionals. It is a little more on the expensive side considering its features

. If the frame rate drops when you're gaming, then luckily the response time is still good. Stick to the 40 overdrive setting for the best result, regardless of the frame rate, there's a little overshoot, but it's unlikely to be an issue since 60hz is very close to its maximum refresh rate of 75hz. So there isn't much of a difference in performance

 If you have this monitor and can use the daisy chaining feature, let us know in the comments the usb-c port can do displayport, alt mode as well as 65w power delivery and data transfer to your pc from the four built-in usb 3.0 ports. Practically perfect for my needs (but speakers are weak)

Great display for productivity + recreation

 Max refresh rate is 75 Hz. It's 16:10, which I love (I also write code), it's factory calibrated, and it's cheap.
