 If you only need one mic input and a guitar input the iD4 got you covered. The iD14 will give you two mic inputs and more advanced features like an additional digital input, precise monitor mix controls and routing. Regardless which one you choose it's nice to know that you get the same high quality audio performance with both interfaces.  On the front of both interfaces you can find a DI input to plug your electric guitar into. You also get two headphone connections, one is a 3.5 millimeter connector and the other one is a quarter inch jack, so you can use the one that suits you best. Or you can even hook up two headphones, although the volume of the two outputs is not individually controllable

 Without spoiling too much, the reason why I'm reviewing both interfaces in one video is that the audio performance is virtually identical. So everything I'm going to say about the audio quality will be true for both interfaces and the differences between the iD4 and iD14 are mostly down to the software features and the amount of in- and out-pots. On that note, let's have a small look at the hardware. On the outside the iD4 and iD14 have hardly changed, the housing is still made out of thick metal, only the grey color is slightly darker now

I need an audio interface for my guitar, I’ve been using line in but the signal is very muddy and my computer is just barely too slow for it to feel good to play in real time. I was going to get a cheap $50 Behringer UM2, but I was worried that I’m going to need a feature later on down the road that requires me to switch. I understand the amount of hook ups, not a problem with only having one of each (Mono and XLR), I’m just worried that I’ll have to buy a better one in a few months for some reason. Any tips?

[Question] Unforeseen problems with cheap audio interface?

 Hopefully this bug is patched because it will give you an absolute heart attack when your audio abruptly goes as loud as the device will allow and be as distorted as a 2012 deep fried MLG meme.  The sample rate setting is also extremely buggy and can occasionally reset itself, this is also due to the app and can be set and used without the app.  On an extra note, the mute speakers button and the iD button on the front do absolutely nothing, which is a shame. This is probably ALSO associated with the software, which is very annoying

A great product with a terrible software

 When we get to the build quality of this thing, I just gotta say it's probably one of the best feeling interfaces that I've come across so far. It has an all aluminum chassis, the dials feel incredible, there's almost no wobble or anything. The big ID button does have a little bit of wobble but it's nothing that I'd be concerned with. On the bottom of the interface there are four rubber feet to keep it from sliding around your desk and it also has a decent amount of weight to it

 So if you are somebody who just needs a single microphone or line input as well as a DI input and $200 is in your budget, 100% I recommend this thing, pick it up. But if you think you'll need more than the one microphone pre down the road I would suggest checking out Audian's bigger interfaces.  I increased the gain to 9 on the interface and this is the level that I'm getting. When we look at the latency of the iD4 with a buffer size of 128 samples we have a resulting round trip latency of 11.2 milliseconds. When we increase this to 256 we have 17 milliseconds and when we decrease it to 64 we're at 8

Audio interface with decent preamps for home recording?

 If I'm paying this much for an audio interface, I want it to be an upgrade to my old one in every way. There shouldn't be a downgrade in convenience and user friendliness.

  The iD4 MKII has great audio quality especially for its premaps and a lot of gain range. There's minimal noise when a mic is connected to it. Build quality is also great as there some heft to it. This is great as I primarily use this for voice acting as I am not a musician

 So at a first glance, the Audient ID4MK2 may look like just another entry-level audio interface, but it's actually packed full of some interesting features and you get a great little bundle of software with it, which I'll get into in just a bit. In the box, you get the interface and the cable, so not a whole lot going on in there. So now let's look at some of the things that you can see on the exterior, like all the connection options that you get with this, and then we'll discuss the details that you don't see. So you have two channels on the back of the interface

 So if you want to hear your direct sound, but you want to blend it a little bit with your DAW, you can customize how much of it you want. It's not just a button that turns the direct monitor on and off. Now you have what they call a volume encoder over here, and this controls the output volume to the speakers and also to the headphones. And also, there's a cool feature with this

 So now let's look at some of the things that you can see on the exterior, like all the connection options that you get with this, and then we'll discuss the details that you don't see. So you have two channels on the back of the interface. It's your microphone and line input combo jack, and the mic preamp in this is the same mic preamp that you'll get in a pro Audient recording console. It's also the same as what I have in my ID44, which I absolutely love, and this is not a cheap mic preamp

 Next is the headphone output and you get two headphone outputs with this and the power that they're able to put out can power up to 600 ohm headphones, which is really nice. The next positive is that this is iOS compatible, so you can plug this into your phone or your iPad and create a nice little music production setup that's very simple. And I can keep going on with positives on this thing, but the final positive that I'm going to mention right now is that mute speaker button. It makes it so convenient for recording with a microphone and listening through your headphones, but not having to turn off your speakers

Everything I see just says "maybe but not enough gain" or "kinda but it's not powerful enough to provide adequate monitoring when streaming or podcasting". So, i would like to know which is the best for a reasonable price and if I need any other direct line pre amps or something to boost the gain. My preferred audio interface was the Scarlet Solo 3rd gen but people were saying it was too quite for 250 ohm headphones. Thanks.
