Motor great / service sucks

How is this bike? (On a tight budget)

 Oh, battery charger they give you is very basic, add another one that stops at an 80% charge for better battery life.  Overall, what I paid for this was very overpriced. With much work, the kit works well, but I did have to buy a good amount of extra pieces. I don't think this should be required for a $1300+ kit

 Again, no mention of this in the non-existent instructions. Plan on spending several hundred dollars extra on parts not included and $500 for a better battery. So you are buying a bundle of parts put together by the seller. So the question is, did you get all the parts you need and are they of good quality? First, no instructions were included, they did give you some QR codes so you can watch third-party installation videos. This is not a great solution as some of the videos are not great.  As for parts, most were fine quality, but nothing special

You will be able to afford a faster more powerful bike if you convert it yourself. The Bafang BBSHD is the performance leader on a budget. Nothing beats mid-drive torque and versatility with a range of gears on the rear.

I have an 8 mile round trip commute here in DC. I’m 5’11, 175 lbs, and currently bike half the week on an old Bianchi off Craigslist that is definitely too small for me. I’ll need to bike full time starting in September. The ride has some hills, but nothing super steep. Since I work standing up for 9-10 hours straight, I’m mostly just looking for a bike that will give me a little assistance on my way home. By the end of the week my legs aren’t too happy to tackle the last hill or two of the ride, and a speed boost would help since I have to get home on time for picking up the kiddo. 

I’m looking at the roadster v2 and the rideal, and would like to stay around that $1000 price. Love the aesthetic of the roadster, and I think it might provide the amount of assistance I’m looking for without becoming a crutch. But the features of the rideal seem hard to pass up for the price. 

Any others I should be strongly considering? Thoughts between the two?

Commuter ebike in DC

 The install was pretty straight forward, and only requires some "security torx screw bits" to complete the job. The power that is available is more than I could ever use, and tomorrow I will find out just how far it will go with an all out field test. For now I can only say if you have a good bike, this will make it a "GREAT BIKE". Bafang has made a contribution that will certainly change the E-Bike picture in the future to come

 After 2 days of tweaking my ride I finally plugged in the battery, hit the "GO" button and that thing came to life. I took it on some easy lowland trails, a little mud and a couple climbs that would cause some thigh burn on any other ride, and never even breathed hard. The install was pretty straight forward, and only requires some "security torx screw bits" to complete the job. The power that is available is more than I could ever use, and tomorrow I will find out just how far it will go with an all out field test

 For now I can only say if you have a good bike, this will make it a "GREAT BIKE". Bafang has made a contribution that will certainly change the E-Bike picture in the future to come. I am already designing the next conversion project, a Schwinn Delta full suspension for the wife.

I'm not as interested in  speed at all really but more torque and batterie length. 

Been looking at mountain bikes with front shocks and some good sized tires. 

Let me know if you guys would recommend or change anything about what I'm planning and what would be best for long distance hauling

Hi everyone, new here looking for advice for a long distance off road e bike build

 Also, having gone down from a 52 V eight amp hour battery to a 48 V 13 amp hour battery the computer and display screen thing has settings to alternate voltage I have set the settings for the voltage back down to 48 V but the system seems to think it’s still at 52 which drains my battery more than it should. I have reset it multiple times and even forced shut down the system but I cannot seem to get it to realize that it is 48 V I hope that this can be resolved soon. The computer I chose to get was the 500c display.

Awesome motor, but Issues after only three months

I'd consider the Bafang BBSHD and a custom controller to handle 72 volt battery if the regular 52 volt one isn't enough.

E bike motors? L’une cycle? I want to do a build on a nice down hill frame (so that it can handle higher speeds and power like a suron) but also look low key and not have to deal with cops etc that surons and bombers and onyx bikes have to deal with from time to time.

Product as described. I had a minor install issue they helped me diagnose and promptly shipped me a replacement cable which got me running. Thanks Guys.
