 And what Batch Bicycles does is they focus on the things that are going to make this bike ride really well and be functional and be durable without going after some of the frills or incremental improvements to the bike, making this be able to come in at a lower price point than some of the major brands in a bike shop. Now this particular Lifestyle Bike, this is going to be an aluminum frame. So you're getting a 6061 alloy frame which is then going to be steered using this high tensile steel fork in the front, a rigid fork, but then it's going to have these 27.5 inch wheels, which is going to make this bike sort of a mutt between their fitness bike that they have and their mountain bike

 The rigid steel fork is going to save some weight and efficiency over the mountain bike. So you're going to have a nice stable bike to get around on. And one of the things I really like about this bike is that it's coming with a 1x7 drivetrain. So this 1x7 drivetrain operates through a Shimano Tourney rear derailleur, which is then going to operate this Sunrace 14-28 tooth 7-speed freewheel

 Rather than where this, that piece is replaceable, so that the bicycle stays okay even if that back end gets damaged. Going to the cockpit, this is another place where they do a good job of balancing the two. So this runs a handlebar with a little bit of rise to it, and it's going to have a 31.8 bar clamp, and that bar clamp being a 31

 Batch is a low cost provider that makes some pretty high quality bikes and they sell directly through bike shops. So you know you get them assembled, put together properly and have a warranty that will actually work. And the Lifestyle Bike is a mix between their mountain bike and their fitness lineup as well. So we're going to take a look at this bike, find out if it's worth the money, check out some of the features, and then of course we'll figure out exactly what it weighs

 I rode through broken glass, varied pavement, gravel, grime, and various urban debris without difficulty. Despite these rough tests, the tires didn’t experience any significant deflation over time, either.

The Batch Commuter is rigged with Shimano Altus eight-speed gearing. This is a very basic setup, but it does allow the bike to move efficiently on both flats and hills. Compared to a single-speed or fixed-gear commuter bike, this gear range gives the bike more versatility, especially people of varying fitness levels.

 Based on the bikes’ specs, they aren’t for hardcore bikers or component geeks. But they’re built in smallish batches and are designed as well-styled, entry-level options for people new to a particular riding genre. Currently, Batch Bicycles makes one for each big lifestyle category: cruiser, mountain bike, comfort, commuter, and kids’ balance and pedal. “The bicycles are at a price point that encourages new riders to get the service from a specialty retailer at a price they are willing to pay for a well-spec’d product,” said Chris Keller, general manager of Batch Bicycles

The simplest thing I’d consider upgrading on the Batch Commuter is the rear fender. It’s plastic and pretty short. And while I’m only a pseudo commuter, like most urban riders, I’d like to keep the spray off me as much as possible.
