My Advice - Don't spend $600 on a Monitor right now

  As I get more acquainted with this monitor, I will update my review. For now, I can say it is easy to set up, works okay for streaming movies or Prime or Netflix, but I haven't been able to get the quality of resolution yet that I hope for..

I know this topic must've been raised thousands of times but I'll try to be precise.

Basically, I'm looking for a new display which I want to use both for console gaming (HDMI 2.1 not required since I'm pretty sure the next-gen consoles won't be able to push 120 FPS on AAA games) &amp; work (no photo/video editing - mostly MS Office &amp; typing in LaTeX, hooking up my laptop to the display).

I'd get an Ultrawide 21:9 monitor in a heartbeat but the next-gen consoles may only (natively) support 16:9. If I go for a 16:9 monitor, I'd want a 28"/32" 4K one with HDR support.

(1) Should I choose an IPS or a QLED+VA monitor?

(2) Should I choose a monitor with HDR400 or HDR10 or HDR10+?

(3) Should I just get a 43-inch 4K TV with HDR?

Display for (casual) console gaming? Budget: €500/£450

 I suggest to those who prefers a really crisp text to maybe consider getting a 4k resolution instead. The gaming side is okay. Maybe a better experience for those with console or PC games which supports the 21:9 resolution.  Also, the settings on the monitor itself, although it offers a lot of good ones, may be tricky for some in my opinion

Searching for good peripherals

As a single monitor, no problems as long as you create a custom resolution if you want G-Sync to work properly. The problem comes up if you try to use 3 of them in nvidia surround or amd eyefinity. The monitors report to the system that they are 4k compatible, therfore when you try to enable surround or eyefinity it only gives you 4k (11520x2160) resolution to choose from, which makes the monitor try to scale the image on screen, which is terrible. In single screen mode you can pick from various resolutions, Windows recommends 2560x1440 just as expected

If you try to make a custom resolution the monitors sometimes flicker off and on, or sometimes just stay off. Then if you switch eyefinity or surround off for single screen mode, it wipes out the custom triple resolution, and you have to completely try to set up the triples again from scratch

Buying a $600 monitor that requires you to spend another $50 to buy an adapter for what is supposed to be a STANDARD mount is unacceptable. If the design doesn't accommodate the VESA standard, the adapter should be included with the monitor. However, this is wasteful if the user intends to use the included stand. Thus, the design should be changed

I would have never purchased this monitor had I known it needed this adapter
