 Nice part about these guns since they've been around so long, mags are all over the place. Make sure you inspect them, make sure they're in good working condition but you can find Beretta mags everywhere. The grips on the side here can be replaced but they do have some checkering. You can put VZ grips on here if you want some G10 grips, those are a nice touch

 This decocker and safety can be a point of contention for a lot of people because it's kind of counter intuitive. To decock and put on safe you're swiping down when really I feel like it's probably better to push that up for decock and to put on safe. Now they do make conversion kits out there if you want to switch that but the Beretta M9 has an ambidextrous safety and decocker and you are going to push the decocker and safety up to make this gun hot. Moving forward the slide has an open top design, this adds to this guns reliability

 The really only issue you might run into as far as malfunctions go is failure to fire, light primer strikes but even that is going to be very rare. This hammer hits hard and is very reliable so there's not a lot to go wrong with the Beretta M9. Obviously it's lengthy service career is a testament to it's reliability and I really like the open top design, just makes it really really easy to keep things out of the chamber clogging up the works. Sights on top are pretty simple, I have a white dot up front and you cannot remove this, it is a part of the top slide so it is what it is, you're not getting anything else

 The Beretta is heavy and again it's a full size service handgun but I like heavy guns because it's easy to manage that recoil, not that the 9mm is stout but you can get a really soft shooting gun if you have a heavy frame and slide chambered in 9mm. It keeps this nose down and shooting flat allows you to make follow up shots really really easily. The double action trigger is heavy but smooth, it's around 12 pounds, it is kind of hard to get used to if you're a big striker fired shooter but Beretta made it as easy as possible with this trigger I think. It's pretty smooth but heavy

So I’ll be turning 21 in April so about 5 months from now and I’ve shot both guns but can’t decide what one to choose but I only have the money to pick one or the other. I don’t know a whole lot about firearms since I’m only now starting to get into this amazing hobby. I do know that firing a M9 is going to be cheaper in the long run because 9mm bullets are cheaper then  .45 acp. So I’ve come to the experts (Y’all) to see what your opinions are to help me decide. Thank you in advance for your suggestions

Can’t decide between 1911 and M9 Beretta

I was talking with my friend who is in training to be a Marine Security Guard (guard for the US embassy). He told me that they are learning to use the Glock 19 in training which raises the question: why the Glock 19 and not the full size 17? The USMC also adopted the smaller version of the m17, the M18. Again why the compact and not the full size? I have read some articles that say it's for the ability to conceal but when would a marine want to concealed carry as apart of their job?

My first firearm in Italy! A Glock 17 FS Gen 5

Happy 9/2! Here are my 92’s

When you want to larp like it's 1993 but also wanted tactical gear on a budget. My LBV88/Alice Gear mash up with field modifications.

Both are reliable. Both are rugged. You can probably bake a SIG in the oven longer and it'll still work, whereas you can probably chuck the Glock in a tarpit and it'll have a higher probability of working than the SIG. Both have passed various high-round-count tests (the P229 is essentially a beefed up P228, which won the consolation prize in the US military trials that eventually yielded the M9 Beretta and M11 SIG)

To whose who owned both, I was hoping you would share your opinion. I'm after a gun that would go through hell and back. Reliability, ruggedness are my primary concern.
