I'm always looking for the perfect float line; I've tried them all, but I'm always willing to test out new lines.  I used this Berkley X9 for bass fighing last summer and liked it, so I thought I'd spool up some 30# and give it a try for steelhead float fishing.  It feels very similar to Power Pro Super Slick 30#, which is the line I normally use.  I would say the X9 works, but it's not necessarily any better than SS.

I have been using the same rod and reel for surf fishing for a while. I only seem to get about 50 yards casting distance. in the area that I am from there is two big troughs and I only reach the first one. I catch Corbina and surf perch but i’m looking to hit the second that’s around 75 ish yards, I’ve heard it holds halibut and striper come along and feed there also. My rod now is a heavy action so it’s hard to feel bites. I’m looking for a longer rod with better feel with a decent reel. I’m open to any spinning reel! I have enough casting/traditional reels!!

Surf fishing combo

I paid for 9 strand and was given 5 strand?

 I've seen that with another buddy's reel who's using it on a conventional. I have not experienced any issues at all whatsoever to speak of with this line and in fact, it's on my short list of braids that I'll continue to use. Now this is 30 pound test, it's on a Bantam MGL, which if you're not familiar with this reel, it's around a 300 and change reel from Shimano, regardless of what they call their core solid body, it's one of the finest bait casters at any price point. And fishing this reel spooled up at 30 pound for the entire year so far, it's six months into the season, nary an issue, nary a fiber out of place

 Look at the old guy, about 18, 19, no less, no less. Next cast, much, much better fish, much better fish. Yes, look at you, post spawn, pretty big, big, big fish, what is going on up there buddy? Wow, that's a big fish, thank you. Very next cast, we got the humpy and we got the big girl, after we bumped a cup

 This line has been nothing short of a pleasure to fish. Again, multiple reels with it. Many many trips. Many many hours

 It's got enough strength to keep them from going anywhere. Settle down, settle down, settle down. Look at the old guy, about 18, 19, no less, no less. Next cast, much, much better fish, much better fish

What color fishing line do you guys like? Specifically Ohio bass fishing.

Currently I'm largely using green moss power pro and low vis grey kastking. I don't think braid color makes much of a difference and at the end of the day I can just tie a leader if I wanted. But, the noisiness of braid is starting to irritate me lol.

I'm looking into switching to straight fluorocarbon and I have some clear sunline sniper already. I thought about maybe running orange so I could see it better (also it looks dope) but I've heard mixed things about running colored line for bass.

Do you guys think line color makes a difference? I'm inclined to say no, but figured I'd ask some more seasoned anglers.
