Hi, I’m on trail (HRP) and have become shelterless overnight (long story!) so need to source one ASAP. A shop in France is offering me two options, neither of which are ideal as I want something sub 800g but they can deliver within 48h so that’s probably my best lead.

Either:

Sierra Designs High Route 3000: 880g all included. Inner can be removed for tarp mode for two people (I don’t have a bivy bag).

Big Agnes Tiger Wall: 964g all included but the shop says that if I change the stuff sack and replace stakes for titanium I can make it go down to 850g.

They’re more or less at the same price.

Which one would you choose? This won’t be my forever shelter as I want to get something like a Duomid but I need something to keep going and I haven’t found any second hand stuff so far in France.

Urgent shelter replacement on trail: Sierra Designs vs. Big Agnes

 Together, that is 23.2oz. Already 1.2oz more than the advertised Trail Weight of 1lb 6oz

95 MSRP for the consumers out there the 5.5 ounces over Trail Weight is significant to define and provide details of IMHO. Just considering the tent, fly, and poles, not sure how BA gets to the 1lb 6oz Trail Weight? This tent feels very delicate and easy to damage as BA warns us. But, I do look forward to using it and writing another review at the end of fall

 Already 1.2oz more than the advertised Trail Weight of 1lb 6oz. Next, let's add the stakes, patches, and splint at 3.8oz all together and we are at 27oz

 The tent and fly come in at 16oz (tent 9.25oz, fly 6.75oz), the carbon poles at 7.2oz

True weights and let's define better what the terms include

3 Person Tent Recommendation

Would not recommended it for hardcore backcountry trip

Been researching for a few hours now, I'm a side sleeper who just came back from a three-day camping trip where I got a total of three hours of sleep due to a sleeping pad that deflated on me.  I'm looking for something comfortable for a side-sleeper and that I don't have to worry about deflating.  I really couldn't care less about weight or cost.  I've read several top-20 lists that indicate several of the old top recommendations in this bracket have moved from 75D to 50D (or lower) material in pursuit of weight gains and more profit (which, of course, are antithetical to what I'm looking for.)  Reviews since the 2020 period I'm seeing on higher-end stuff seems to back this up, I'm seeing plenty of reports of failures where pre-2020 reviews don't really show many/any.

What exists in this bracket?  I'm not in search of an ultralight, just something that actually keeps my hip off the ground and that I don't have to worry about deflating on me.  Because god help me, the next time that happens to me is the last time I go camping.

I have been doing tons of research into tents, I decided that the Tiger wall UL2 by Big Agnes is the one for me (I think). I'll be able to get one for about 320$ from REI with the 20% off coupon. But on amazon there's a tent by a company I believe called Near Zero? NZO? The tent is called Dynalite, and looks interesting, it looks like a great tent in photos and on paper. It's 179$, trail weight about 3lbsish. Problem is can't find any youtube reviews and the ones on Amazon are limited but good reviews (only 5).

Has anyone heard of this tent or seen one on trail before ? Or should I just go with the Big Agnes ? I am also open to other options as well.

Now in a place to finally able to invest in *quality* camping gear for myself. Have usually borrowed other people's tents so I'm pumped to finally buy my own! Looking 3-4 for myself and my large dog. Want to allow her to have her space as well. 

I'm willing to put $600 in to a tent but if cheaper that's a bonus.  Im 5'3" would like to have one that I can stand in but willing to sacrifice height for other benefits. Love storage pockets and space. I'd also like to have that little " patio" area outside of sleeping area but willing to sacrifice that too. Will be doing more car camping but if opportunity comes up, I'd like to have my tent versatile for backpack camping. I don't anticipate I'll need a 4 season tent BUT if it was, that's a cool addition.

So far I've been looking at marmot and dragonfly's. Some eureka. Coleman seems to be one that has what I'm looking for but from my understanding they're just okay/good tents???

Help!! I want all the education and recommendations, please and thank you!
