The user interface isn't user-friendly, and we think a more straightforward design would help this clock significantly in the long run. While most parents will be able to figure it out, we worry you'll need to keep instructions on hand as a reminder or after a long period of unuse. Despite these control issues, we think this straightforward clock does what it should and will appeal to little ones enough to help them learn when it is okay to get out of bed.

 If you can get them to see it when it is green a few times and get excited to leave their room it may help them get the hang of it faster and follow the rules even if you bump the alarm time up a bit.

Nearly perfect for our needs.

 Problem was, because he had just turned 2, he struggled to understand that he needed to go back to sleep, and if we told him through the door, he became more upset because he knew we were out there.  Other reviews I read said that this clock changed their life overnight. For us, it took about a week or two for him to get the hang of this. I believe that has to do with the fact that he had JUST turned two, whereas other kids were probably a bit older and could understand faster

“Mommy, the ball turned green!” is my new alarm clock :)

 Cons: Wished the battery lasted longer. It’s nice there is an option for using AA batteries, but they only lasted 2-3 weeks. I was hoping we could use this with just batteries permanently so the clock would be out of reach and the toddler couldn’t mess with it/unplug it. Changing out batteries that often won’t work for us
