 Had I noticed before the return period was up, I'd have returned the one I purchased here.  What a weird, wasteful design flaw in an otherwise excellent product, and I'm finding plenty of complaints about it online. It boggles my mind that either the design team didn't anticipate that this would be a problem, or that the company simply doesn't care.

Works well, but WHY would you make a fan that can't be cleaned?

 the location is high enough as not to interfere with the bottom of the window frame. This unit has two speeds, high and low. The controls are easy to operate. In fact, there is only one button and two switches

 I own a Kill-A-Watt P3 energy meter and this unit used 46 watts on low and 63 watts on high. I would have been happy with this unit except that two days into using it, the right fan started working intermittently. Of course, that is unacceptable. Returning

  Holmes manual has no artificial lights but is nowhere near as strong, is flimsy (doesn't look built to last) have to uninstall it to use the exhaust, has no exchange function (both inflow and exhaust at the same time), and is horribly loud, so much that i wouldn't use it even if it was free---not worth saving the 20 bucks or so at all---i'm returning mine.  Cons: Need to put blackout stickers to block the artificial light it emits.  probably should get the filter if you live somewhere polluted.
