 Welcome to our 2023 product reviews Right this here is the black rose mirror score 2023 I've been waiting a long time to get on a pair of these We had them in the store the 22 version last year But unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to test it out and they sold out before I could even grab myself a pair So very excited to get on these and I was not disappointed black roses come up with something completely different There's not many skis on the market that are like this. Okay, so what's it aimed for? It's 97 87 mil underfoot I'm sorry, and it's aimed for carving on the piste, but it's a blend into freeride So if you want to be have something that rapidly carves on the piste, you could rip around resort No problem, but you want to dive off into some side country. This is the tool for you. We're talking hand rags We're talking big smiles on the face and it's all done by this huge great big side cut So if you have a look here, you can see the shape of the ski Lots and lots of width at the tip nice and narrow in the middle lots of width on the tail Okay, combine that with Rocker on the tail rocker on the tip and a tiny bit of camber underfoot You bank this on its edge and it just carves like a dream flex of the ski

 It's not particularly stiff But I found it on sort of like hard icy conditions It's still really bitten really well, so you didn't feel like it was floppy or soft in any way But it's nice and easy to flex So it doesn't take a lot of power to charge and to put it on its edge. You'll notice unique design of this This sort of cutout tail in the end here does a couple of things one it throws Powder up into your friends behind if they're trying to follow you Secondly, it is for looks if you watch any of the videos about this online from From the guys who designed it they freely admit it is purely for looks Lot of skis that have this sort of split tail are very soft in the end. What does everyone think about the new fastforwards from J. Ski?

I am thinking about picking up a pair to use as my daily driver for the east coast. I haven't had the chance to demo a wide variety of skis so any input is appreciated. 

They sound like they will make an awesome groomer/tree ski. But I am worried they might be a bit too stiff/heavy for butters/side hits/the occasional park lap. 

I'm also considering skis like the Armada ARV, Armada Edollo, season eqpt aero,

Thoughts on the J. Ski fastforward

 I've really enjoyed skiing on this today. It's a Black Crows, Mirror's Core. I nearly forgot what it was called then.

 It's not particularly stiff, it's quite easy to turn because of the rockered tip, and it just looks great and feels great. It's also got this swallow tail on the bottom there. The swallow tail has absolutely no purpose whatsoever other than to look really cool. It is £720 price point without bindings, so it is a higher price point for a piece ski, but you know what? It just feels and looks really good

 Short radius turns on these, really easy, really grippy, really responsive. It's got a popular wood core running through it. It's not particularly stiff, it's quite easy to turn because of the rockered tip, and it just looks great and feels great. It's also got this swallow tail on the bottom there

 This is quite a long ski, but actually when you ski it, it doesn't feel long at all. In fact, it's super responsive. Short radius turns on these, really easy, really grippy, really responsive. It's got a popular wood core running through it

This would be the middle ski in a quiver of three, other skis are a 180cm Völkl Racetiger GS 69mm and the other is a 179cm Nordica Enforcer 104 Free.

I enjoy carving more than going off piste, but would like to have the option to do so. The Racetigers get bogged down in afternoon conditions if there’s a touch of snow, else I’d just use those.

I’m 5’10”, 180 pounds, lower advanced. 

The Blades seem nice for their crazy sidecut but I’m not sure what I’m giving up compared to a more traditional stiff/strong ski like the Brahma.

 So it's 87 millimeters underfoot with a 13 meter turn radius. So even at the longer length, the 184, you're getting like a slalom style cut on the ski. Very unique, you're not going to see that a whole lot of places. We have a poplar wood core and a sheet of metal in here, you know that's very important to get the torsional stiffness required to make that short carve

 So it kind of has to be that way. 87 millimeters underfoot, you know it doesn't ski like other 87, 88 millimeter skis, that's for sure. It hooks right up and just brings you right across the fall line. Obviously the tip shape is a little strange looking too, you know just they did whatever they could to make it not perfectly flat, but it's pretty darn flat

 And they have to be because they lack the full width, excuse me, structure of the ski. So they articulate when you're in a deep carve turn allowing this, if this is your inside edge to hold on to the turn longer while that bends up and the other one stays pure to the snow. So it's a really interesting design technique. You know line sacana and then the line blade came to mind as well for comparative skis

Skied these while at demo days this year on some pristine groomers. These skis fall into a new and evolving category of "playful carvers". High edge angles, low expectations

 For me, they lacked edge hold and stability on the early season man-made snow. I would like to try them in powder or off piste freshies. Overall, I would recommend these to someone lighter weight, or a little less aggressive.
