Dashcam suggestions

Let me start out by saying this device works as it says it should, without fail (so far).  Installation woes: I am a pretty big gear head, and working with an automotive fuse box isn't something that usually bothers me. The instructions left me guessing where to connect the wires, and while I ended up getting it right the first time, luck had a good amount to do with it.  They also don't give you enough wire for a fuse box located in the trunk of the car

Been looking at their DRX-900 2CH model but have seen mixed reviews. If anyone uses Blackvue can you tell me more about their quality/your experience? Are they worth the price or are there better models/brands available?

Hey everyone! I am looking to get my first dash cam. I live in FL and have witnessed and heard of some crazy situations where dash cam footage could've come in handy. 

I've never installed anything in a vehicle, and I was wondering how most cams connect. Is it through the OBD II port most of the time? Is this the same port that diagnostic devices are used with? It doesn't seem difficult to access in my 2018 Honda Civic so I think it'd be easy to connect. I'm assuming there shouldn't be any car battery issues with a dash cam connected this way? 

And if for whatever reason I wanted a dash cam that just plugged into USB or cigarette lighter, are there any that people recommend? Any that are still capable of a decent park mode? 

And my last question. I've seen very nice models that have 4k with an interior cam and cloud service. Are these worth it for $500+? I'm not too knowledgeable on cameras and storage but wouldn't 4k footage occupy a typical SD card very quickly if I didn't have cloud service? 

Lastly, any models that are good deals? Ones that won't fall off, have good video stabilization, etc that you guys recommend?

A Few Questions About Dash Cam Options

 Plug your fuses back into the fuse box and start trucking the wires away through the trim of your vehicle. This will ensure a clean, finalized look to the installation process. We recommend using the trim tool to help with this process. Now that your installation is complete, let's discuss adjusting your voltage cutoff

 Insert the PowerMagic Pro wires, in this case ACC and BATT tag wires, through the edifuse cable and crimp them together. Give a slight tug to make sure the connection is secure. Plug your fuses back into the fuse box and start trucking the wires away through the trim of your vehicle. This will ensure a clean, finalized look to the installation process

 Four and five switches will be away from the number, and for number three towards the number sign. If you're looking to cover your vehicle with extended parking mode coverage, consider adding a battery pack called Cellink Neo or a BlackBew B124X. Typically, PowerMagic Pro will last anywhere between four to eight hours, depending on your battery condition of your vehicle in a busy street, versus with the battery pack, you would be looking at 15 hours for a dual channel system and 25 hours for a single channel system. Looking for a good dash cam

 Install was very easy and straight-forward. I recommend buying a couple of tap-a-circuit harnesses to make it even easier and eliminate cutting and splicing. They give you TONS of cable if you need it, and rather than having a birds nest behind my radio or under my kickpanel, I decided to wrap it in electrical tape and tuck them away. Without drilling any holes in my interior, this box was easy to tuck under my radio in the spare cubby compartment where the switches are easily accessible and the LED is in sight

I paired this with a BlackSys CF-100 dual-channel dashcam in a 2015 Subaru Crosstrek. Instructions that came with it were in Japanese but a quick google search for english instructions made them easy to find. Install was very easy and straight-forward. I recommend buying a couple of tap-a-circuit harnesses to make it even easier and eliminate cutting and splicing

A must-have for anyone that's serious about installing a dashcam.
