VOCOlinc Smart Air Purifier - Real Reviews?

  So, I do recommend this if you need it to merely keep allergens and occasional light smoke cleaned out of the air. I don't recommend it for heavy, regular smoke or fumes. It's not made for that.  However, check out the larger, more costly unit the same company makes

 I don't know those specs, but I think that might have more filtering capabilities and simply be more powerful. If I buy another one, it will probably be either the very high-end IQ Air MC Multigas unit that cleans 1100 sf and has hyper HEPA filtration and gas removal or the lower-cost unit that Consumer Reports didn't recommend due to ionizing. I will probably use HEPA filters and the small fan I have to make a homemade air cleaner to hold me until we move to see what I need at the new place. I've done that before and simply closed doors when we have fires nearby

  I do think this would work very well for people who simply want to keep allergens at bay or want to keep very light whiffs of smoke such as momentary barbecue smoke that comes in before you have a chance to go close the window. It's very attractive, the outside filter is a knit fabric that is very easy to wash and high to dry while you use the second provided one, and it's so easy to operate. Just a light tap turns it on. Two taps turn it on to medium and three taps turn it on high

  I did think this would work because the marketing materials I read sounded as though this was actually a HEPA filtered machine and as though it handled fumes. However, it is not a true HEPA machine and does not remove fumes. After using it for several hours and especially after a few days, the air that comes out smells like cigarette smoke, even when the air is clear and outside clear air is coming in. So, I have to stop using it and wait for days before somehow that stops happening before using it again

Good for routine allergens or light episodic smoke. Not for heavy duty persistent smoke and fumes.

 After which it goes to a carbon filter, in through the center of the unit, or it passes past a fan. The fan is of course pulling the air in and the fan is also pushing the air out up and out of the top of the unit. This unit features only three fan speeds and those are adjusted with this button on the front. Here you hit the button you tap but repeatedly to adjust fan speed again

 The unit is a little less than 15 and a half pounds. This unit features a proprietary particle filter combined with a carbon filter and it features this fabric pre-filter around the bottom of the unit. Now as you can see, this fabric pre-filter covers the whole bottom of the unit. What you cannot see is the fact that it covers it actually on four sides and this is where the air enters into the unit

 With these blue air units, you're dealing with proprietary air filters and Wow they are very good. For most particles of most sizes, there isn't nearly as much research done. There isn't nearly as much proven science behind these units as there is for a HEPA equipped unit. Furthermore, this unit also uses ionization to aid in the filtration process, and that ionizer in here cannot be turned off for many air purifiers, especially top rated units

 Now, there are downsides to this, and that is the fact that it's completely visible here. So think about the air constantly being pulled into the air purifier and all four sides against this fabric pre-filter What we found during testing is that a lot of larger particles, hairs, larger fibrous materials, and things of that nature. they tend to stick to this fabric pre-filter on the side, and that is actually the reason why this fabric pre-filter is here. It's it's intended to filter out those larger particles, and the fact that it's visible is problematic because now you can actually see these larger particles sticking to the outside of the air purifier

I purchased Blueair 211+ Auto. I personally didn't noticed an improvement in air quality, instead the device emenated a sweet then later a plastic burning smell. My wife on the other hand, she is more sensitive with allergens such as dust and pollen and she felt the device had helped her greatly. Anyways, because of the unsual burning smell I returned it and order a different air purifier brand

Clean but emits an odor

Had a blue air pure 211+ and it was awful. It nearly killed me and two others in my family. Putting out toxic VOCs. I would say if you like machines like Xiaomi but tried and tested in the US then go Levoit

All recent Xiaomi air purifiers have app and laser dust sensor. These two features seem to be very rare in the air purifiers sold in US. I'm not sure why, they seem like simple features to have.

The ones I'm using are very loud and don't seem to work for the room size they stated. I turn them on all day but dust is still everywhere in the air.

Did I buy an air purifier that doesn't meet your own standards?  Your own videos stress that it's important to buy a true HEPA filter purifier.  I got this home and it doesn't appear to be a true HEPA and doesn't filter 99.97% at 0.3 microns

My biggest concerns are reducing dust and other particles in the air. I do not smoke, or have pets, but I do have a lot of linens and work from home a lot, so it gets dusty quickly!
