 As a purifier for smoke and odor, this is actually a pretty good one though. When I cook and this turns on, my house smells less – although it doesn’t completely eliminate the smell. In fact, neither the Coway nor the Levoit was able to completely eliminate smells (but that was not my concern at all). The best thing about the Levoit, and I feel is the biggest selling point, is that it’s Wifi-enabled for an amazing price

 Now, I wasn’t here to review Coway at all, but I couldn't give a review of Levoit's air purifier without comparing the two. Looking at other people's reviews about how Levoit's air purifier helped with their allergies and such though, made me feel like either I got a defective device from Levoit, or our allergies are actually much more severe than the regular folks with allergies. Anyways, given that Levoit gave me no relief from my somewhat allergies in comparison to the other brand that I bought and tried at the same time, I will admit that I would probably not buy Levoit’s purifiers for myself ever again. If I had a friend that just needed something to keep the air clean and somewhat help with odors, AND really wanted one that’s Wifi-enabled, I’d definitely recommend this though

 Coway won in the area of purifying enough to help allergy-sufferers and auto-sensing. I don’t know how, but the sensors on the Coway are much more sensitive than Levoit’s; so sensitive, that opening a door activates Coway’s, while Levoit's sensors tells me that the air quality is still excellent. Now, I wasn’t here to review Coway at all, but I couldn't give a review of Levoit's air purifier without comparing the two.  For the price, it had absolutely everything I wanted, especially the auto sensors and app integrations. It honestly did extremely well in almost all areas, except for the fact that as allergy-sufferers, this just did not work as well as I thought it would. My wife is the one who suffers from pet dander, pollen, and dust, and gets asthma from extremely bad air. For her, the air purifier didn’t make a difference at all

Used for 5 months, here's my review

I noticed that while the unit is quiet in terms of fan noise, rumble, rattling or any other typical issues of purifiers, there is a high pitched winey sound. Ever since I heard it, I can’t unhear it in a quiet room. I went ahead and bought a 2nd 400S and the 2nd one was actually a bit worse. The noise fades away when the TV is on or the HVAC system kicks in but it’s just annoying enough in a silent room that I’m debating a return

 No chance I could nap on the couch now that I’m aware of that noise unless I drown it out with something else. 

My older purifier (2019) is a Bissell Air 220 which I have moved to the basement. This unit is remarkably louder but the loudness is more of a white noise and over time you don’t even hear it. It’s louder but a more pleasant frequency. 

 I went ahead and bought a 2nd 400S and the 2nd one was actually a bit worse. The noise fades away when the TV is on or the HVAC system kicks in but it’s just annoying enough in a silent room that I’m debating a return. No chance I could nap on the couch now that I’m aware of that noise unless I drown it out with something else. 

I purchased a Levoit 400S for our living room about 10 days ago. I’m a big fan of auto mode on any air purifier and I have a smart home so any appliance that is WiFi based is ideal. 

It mostly does the job we need it to. The app is very handy and useful. The purifier seemed to work really well to eliminate odors the first day we had it but doesn’t seem to do as good of a job now about a week later.

I just bought the Levoit 400S from Best Buy. I mainly look for an ultra quiet air purifier for the room. However, the 400S I get despite having low fan noise at lowest setting (sleep mode), has an atrocious high pitch motor noise that is extremely noticeable in my bedroom. Are all Levoit units like this? Can someone recommend a good ultra quiet air purifier for a small bedroom with better motor?

Motor noise on Levoit Core 400S

We bought this unit for our bedroom. We have two german shepherds, which creates a very dusty home. My wife has allergies which makes her life miserable at times, so we were looking for something to help with that. It's always hard to tell just how much of a difference these make, but I do like it

 We turn it up a bit at night for the white noise and increase air filtration. We have an older competitors brand that seems to register the air quality as worse when the dogs walk by as opposed to the new one makes very little change. When cooking and creating some smoke, the new units goes into overdrive to clear up the air, where the older one doesn't change at all. So no clue why one changes and the other doesn't

Nice Quality for a Reasonable Price

I’m in the market for an air purifier for my recording studio. My sinuses are quite sensitive, at the moment I have a Coway ap1512hh in my bedroom and that does a good job cleaning the air but here I’m looking for something a bit bigger coverage area and that might deal with odors a bit better.

I have acoustic panels in the room that have irritating insulation in them too, covered but you can never be certain. 

I can get them all for exactly the same price, the Xiaomi deals with a way bigger area and is really quite but I don’t see much reviews for it. Filters are cheap too.

The Winix is also a big option because of the plasmawave or is that a gimmick? Does it deal with VOCs? It’s a bit louder than the Levoit and Xiaomi. 

The Levoit seems nice but it’s coverage area isn’t huge, it’s a tidy little unit all the same.

Anyone have any experience with these devices?

Stuck between a Winix AM90/Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier Pro H/Levoit Core 400s

Which one is more worth it?

 The display of particle levels is almost useless as it displays low single digits all the time, from the moment it came out of the box. It's good to know we don't have a lot of large particles in our air--and always did apparently--but there is no more sensitive setting to show ongoing effectiveness. Also, it would be far more useful if you could program the fan settings during day to be quiet and dark at night and a higher speed, etc. otherwise

 It can be very quiet on the low settings. The highest setting is a windstorm like a box fan on full, so presumably very effective. The display of particle levels is almost useless as it displays low single digits all the time, from the moment it came out of the box.
