BlueParrott B450-XT Review + Live Mic Test

 The S450-XT is a good headset, and it has longer battery life than the Focus UC does, plus a useful wired mode. But the Voyager Focus UC has better sound quality, better comfort, and active noise cancellation, making it our Editors' Choice.

 But the S450-XT made quick work of loud traffic, wind, and train noise, letting my voice come through loud and clear. I'd even venture to say that outbound noise cancellation is better than it is with the Focus UC. There's no in-ear feedback of your own voice, though.

The S450-XT and the Plantronics Voyager Focus UC both have a very specific market: people who want stereo music, but also need crystal clear call quality in a range of environments. For those folks, a standard mono Bluetooth headset or a pair of stereo Bluetooth headphones just won't do. The S450-XT is a good headset, and it has longer battery life than the Focus UC does, plus a useful wired mode.  Vocals sound like they have a veil over them, and high-end sounds retreat, but snare and bass drums thump. It'll keep you awake, but we really prefer a more balanced sound signature like you get with the Plantronics Voyager Focus UC.

If you want to call someone else, you could just say, hey Siri, if you have an iPhone, I imagine if you had an Android, you could say, okay Google, and that would give you the same benefit, I'm not really sure about that

 It is absolutely noise canceling. It does such a fantastic job. Most people don't even know I'm driving. People have to ask me, so are you stopped for the day? Are you stopped for the night? Are you stuck in traffic? You know, it's awful quiet because they have no idea that I'm driving down the road

 I'm going to tell you, having come from the telecommunications industry, I worked at AT&T and sold every kind of Bluetooth headset you can imagine. But it's been a great investment and if you're thinking about getting in the business, you're thinking about driving a truck, I would say this is one of the areas I wouldn't cut corners. I've heard horror stories about the various knockoff brands out there

Honest Review: Blue Parrot B450-XT

31, but did not completely resolve. Both headsets were tested with the same iPhone 6.  - Comfort: I wear these headsets for 5-10 hours a day on many occasions, the B350 tends to cause my ear to become sore and the headset has a propensity to slip forward on my head. The optional foam covering the ear speakers is thin (I do not like the pleather earpad that comes on the 350 by default) and has already slipped off the earpiece once

) the audio starts to have some distortion and high pitched sounds can be painful; also the ring tone from the phone is deafening when a new call comes in at this volume level. My B250 only required 10-20% volume in the home office, and ~50% volume in airports, etc, at airport volume levels the sound is much cleaner.  Edit: the speaker on the B350 is also harder to hear unless positioned precisely, and if the volume is up above about 70% (frequently required for slightly noisy environments), I have some people complain of an echo because they can hear feedback from their own voice being picked up by the mic.  - Bluetooth Connectivity: The B350 Bluetooth signal seems weak compared to the B250, and even other Bluetooth headsets

 I like the side button layout and the feel of the buttons. Unfortunately the positive feedback "click" from the volume up/down buttons is loud enough to come through as clicking on the phone line for the B350. I never had this issue reported by anyone when I used the B250  - Noise cancelling: The B250 wins here. I haven't inspected the mic in detail on the B350, but it does not appear to be a directional mic like the B250

 I just love the way it looks. And of course, they're as comfortable as they always are. I mean, in my opinion, they're comfortable. Some people say that it gives them a headache and all this other stuff and everybody has different sensitivities, but I enjoy it

Honest Review: “2nd Gen” Blue Parrot B450-XT Trucker Headset

On the plus side, this headset has an updated look, more convenient charging, and a new, user-programmable button compared with the 250-XT+ I used for years. BlueParrott has always been the headset to buy when you want noise cancellation that actually works and that is still just as true as ever. Unfortunately, the list of drawbacks is much longer, and I don't feel like this was much of an upgrade.  The main problem is that the unit is a lot more bulky, and the the inertia associated with all that extra mass causes it to slip off my head constantly

 There is no way to change the length of the bar that wraps over the head, so there is no way to adjust this thing to make it fit better. The curved pad on the free end doesn't mate up with the dent I have in my skull from wearing previous models 70 hours a week for many years. It just isn't comfortable, and it just isn't working out very satisfactorily at all.  The next biggest problem is that I can only wear it for an hour or so before the pressure gets to me

The new design has many significant flaws

 This one might have a little bit better clarity than this one. This one fits on the ear a lot better than this one. The 550 fits around the ear a little bit better. And for the distance, it will go around the whole truck and trailer

 Like I said, 550 with the plastic on, 450, which is two years old. Charge still works. Charge it up every night. I own the phone all the time, either listen to people's live streams or on different phone calls

 If you can afford it, like I said, I got this. This was on sale for 200 bucks. I used $200 in TA points and it cost me nothing. But if you're going out there and buying something, go to Amazon or Walmart online

Generally good, but is this a blue light special?

I'm reviewing this after only one day of use so will report back if I encounter issues. So far so good. I work from home when not traveling and am on the phone a ton. I was using a Plantronics wired headset that I've had for years so was ready for something wireless which would allow me to move around a little, and also answer calls from the headset which I couldn't do with the wired set

  Update: I am revising this review after a couple weeks of use. The headset is too heavy for me. After long calls while wearing my reading glasses, my ear hurts. I tried changing the leather pad to the foam, which helped a little but there is still pain

Great for home office use

  Honestly for the price I would look elsewhere. The quality is more in line with a $60 headset. It's only been two years and I'm already in the market for a new pair because of all the constant issues. I'm looking at upgrading to a Jabra or something much higher quality
