UPDATE: Lasted 7 months!!!....Best grinder out there for under $250, great for Aeropress!

 The cone is designed so that beans feed easily into the grinder. Unlike a Krups burr grinder I have used, I've had no occasion so far to have to shake the Bodum to move the beans from the storage cone into the grinder. The unit is relatively small. It could be even smaller if the cone weren't designed to hold beans for 30 cups of coffee

 My theory here is that it's not static cling that causes the grind to stick to the receptacle; it's the oils in the ground beans that sticks. If it were static cling, it stands to reason that the plastic might hold more of the grind, but the glass holds just as much of the sticky oil. OK, there may be a slight advantage to the glass, but it's not much in my estimation.  Would I buy this product again? I'd certainly consider it at this price point, but I'd also have to look hard at other models, including the Krups at about the same price and the Cuisinart at a markedly lower price point

  My work-around--and it is a work-around--is to grind for 20 seconds at the drip setting, let the grinder rest for five minutes while I get the water ready and bring it to a boil. About the time the water is at a boil, I grind for another 15 seconds or so, and that gives me the amount of ground bean I need.  As for the much touted advantage of the glass (v plastic) receptacle for the grind, I'm not seeing it. I get pretty much the same amount of cling with the glass as I've experienced with the plastic receptacle on the Krups that I've used

 There were few specifics in the reviews I read as to how much coffee you could grind in 20 seconds.  As it turns out, the 20-second rule is a minor inconvenience, even for my 4-5 cups each morning. If I'm brewing French press, 20 seconds will give me enough beans at the relatively coarse grind. If, however, I'm brewing drip, my five scoops of beans requires about 35 seconds

 Sometimes when I use it, half of the beans will be ground to almost a powder, and the other half will be in large chunks. But it’s small, so I’ve dealt with it up until now. If you can afford a better one, just get it and save yourself the trouble. But if you’re on a budget and have limited space, this one should be serviceable

 I knew I wasn't about to spend over $100 on one as that seemed just too persnickety! I got some money for Christmas and ordered the Bodum.  Others have reviewed this thoroughly, showing buthow much coffee lovers care about their coffee, so I'll just say a few things. First, it really does make a difference in the quality of my coffee and, as that was the most important thing to me, I am thrilled. I've had delicious coffee every morning

 Of course I start with good beans.  There are a couple of drawbacks to the grinder, however. The fact you have to wait 5 minutes after the first 20 seconds has been well noted. For me that hasn't been a major problem

THE BODUM EXPERIENCE

This is a great little burr grinder. I have owned it and used it every day, and sometimes more than once a day, for around four months, so I cannot yet talk about its durability. I am not a purist who will insist on a burr grinder over a blade grinder, and I have not owned or used another burr grinder, so I can't compare this one with others. I like it for the following reasons

 Purists will disagree and say that the flavor of coffee ground with a burr grinder is superior. I will not contest that claim but I cannot confirm it either.  Cons 1. The grinder has a narrow profile and so is not as stable as I would like

 I have found that this varies depending on the coffee I use. I use the same coffee beans for all of my coffee needs, but when I have experimented with coffees from other companies some have produced this messy result. I stick with my old brand, not because of that, but because I have not found a coffee I like better.  Addendum 11/06/2019: The grinder is still working but making an awful sound that has been increasing over the past year or so

 I am not a purist who will insist on a burr grinder over a blade grinder, and I have not owned or used another burr grinder, so I can't compare this one with others. I like it for the following reasons. 1. It grinds well at the finest setting, when I use it with my cappuccino makerDe'Longhi EC155 15 BAR Pump Espresso and Cappuccino Maker
