 Another common complaint is that the micarta is different on each side, but mine was quite uniform. Also, this Kwaiken had the larger oval thumb disk, as well as the titanium spacer. Overall, the kwaikens are fantastic blades, but I just got tired of poking myself.

Great but slow and heavy

I handled a Burnley custom Kwaiken at a knife show and fell in love with everything but the price. So thankfully, Boker has manufactured one for the masses. The knife looks great, but if you wanted to send your knife for some after-market modding, I removing the Boker Plus and AUS-8 markings on the blade make for a much cleaner look.

.because nobody is particularly proud to have paid $100 for AUS-8 steel. (Note: I also have the "flipper" mod done to my Kwaiken and unfortunately it does not work particular well since the Boker version just was not designed as a flipper.)  The detent on mine was on the strong side, so I took the knife apart and bent out the locking liner to loosen it a bit

 Sadly, it has a serious safety issue in guarding the blade while the knife is closed, resulting in me cutting myself.  I cut myself on the tip of the blade trying to pull the knife out of my pocket.  Blade is very sharp right out of the box. As to the other reviews about cutting themselves on the knife in their pocket, I don't see how it was done. All I can say is I tried to catch my finger and fingernail on the blade while it was in my pocket and had no luck. The knife works as it should it locks up tight and u can't cut yourself on it
