<p>So ..I got this handled by buying a $6 bluetooth receiver thingamajig. It connects to a USB charger for power and you plug the 3.5mm jack from a conventional 2.1 channel speaker system into it.</p>

<p>Voila, regular old speakers become bluetooth capable. It stays on forever, stays searching for pairing forever as well!</p>

<p>Cheap and better sound that those battery powered bt things!</p>

Looking for a wired BT speaker that stays on and connected forever

As far as the sound quality, I don't feel it lives up to the price point of this speaker, especially since the Sonos One Gen 2 I bought on sale was significantly cheaper than the Bose Home 300. To my ears the Sonos One Gen 2 sounds better. However, I'm not a sound quality snob, I wanted something more fully featured with aux input as an option, but the lack of reminders makes this speaker not very useful for me, as I would need to supplement it with a Dot or similar Echo device anyways.

I bought this speaker after trying a Sonos One Gen 2 and finding the lack of an auxiliary input was limiting its potential.

 Grouping works only sometimes, usually in the beginning and then speakers drop out even though I have great wifi signal on clear channel and router set according to Bose instructions. Changing volume in the app causes speakers to play at random volumes jumping constantly.

I got this Bose speaker because I have had nothing but good experiences with Bose products, and was interested in a "smart" speaker. When I unboxed it and tried to set it up, it was *not* intuitive, and I ended up have having to do a hard reset in order for it to connect to my WiFi network. It was a frustrating experience, and I consider myself tech competent. I can't imagine how frustrating this would be for someone who didn't have a little troubleshooting experience

 This is not an issue with my WiFi, as all of our other products connected to WiFi have no issue. The only way to solve it is to unplug and plug it back in. It's gotten to the point where the "smart" part of the speaker is so inconsistent that I've started to use it almost exclusively as a bluetooth speaker.

.which is not why I bought it.  If you want a great sounding bluetooth speaker, this will do. If you're looking for a "smart" speaker, look elsewhere

What is the best 2.1 sound bar setup?

 Just another annoyance. I thought this would be good for ease of use but the Bose software let me down on this product.

 I would try logging onto my profile and it said I did not have access to it. That was annoying. After download was done then music would sometimes play and sometimes play for short amount of time and then stop for what I have no idea. I think the sound quality is pretty good for a 360 style speaker but Bose needs to work on their software

 Works great with pandora and I am sure other online music but Apple Music you have to open Apple Music and pick playlist. Since I couldn’t get voice command to work or find the setup I am not sure If I could just tell Alexa to play a certain playlist. But for now I have to open Apple and go to playlist and then it will bring it up in the Bose app. But if I want a different playlist without the voice command I have to go to Apple Music

Hey there, I'm thinking buying in between jbl charge 5 and Sony xb 33. Any thoughts about these two?

2) Connecting device to home network is cumbersome. Directions are not very clear that you need to connect to the Bose (via wifi-direct) first in order to connect the Bose speaker to your network's wireless AP.

 I like the Bose offerings because they are not solely dependent on WiFi/internet connections to work and include Bluetooth and AUX in as backups which Sonos couldn’t care less about including.

 I'd stick with google's or JBL's line up. All in all, google probably beats them all out. Or Sonos. This Bose product is too proprietary

 Bottom line, you can find the same quality, or better, with better usability for about the same price. I will not be adding any more bose products to my sound system and if I ever win another, I'll sell it.
