 And also I think the blues driver might be more suited towards pickups with humbuckers as I think the OD-3 has a bit more bass and probably a little more mids, a little bit less of a bright pedal. So this potentially is going to work really well with humbuckers. Let me know your thoughts in the comments. Are you a blues driver fanatic? What do you think of it? What do I need to try out with it? Because I'll probably have it for a few days before Rick needs it back

 The sound through either amp was kind of fizzy and not at all what I expected. Possibly it was the wrong pedal to run through such a clean combination that I was using? I had seen videos with this pedal and a Deluxe Reverb in which it sounded pretty nice though. In person I was pretty unimpressed.

I bought this to get a little “dirt” sound when I’m playing guitar. I have an American Telecaster that I play through a Fender Pro Junior and a Deluxe Reverb. It usually gives a nice clean tone but I wanted something a little grittier so I did my research and thought that a tube screamer style overdrive would be the way to go. I watched several sound comparisons between this and the popular Ibanez model

Frankly, a little disappointed.

 So the next two things I'm gonna mess with, and you're gonna see me messing with it, will be I'm going to use it as more of a blues driver, kind of like a little bit of a clean, more of a boost, right, so not necessarily a distort-y sound, but I'm gonna turn the distortion all the way down and then find that level to get just, you know, if I wanted to play single notes that were a little bit louder than the clean tone and just a little bit grungeier, but not full distortion, I'm gonna do that first, and then right after that, we're gonna go balls to the wall and just turn it into, you know, the hottest distortion that we can get it, and then I think that'll give you a nice idea of what we're working with. So let's do that. Here we go. OK

Guitar Pedals for CHEAP! Boss BD-2 Blues Driver Overdrive Pedal - Thursday Gear Video

 A really unappealing sound. Not sure if I got a bum unit or what  I actually liked it best as a simple boost with the gain at 0. The eq sounded nice and adds a nice sparkle.  Overall it sounded good as a boost with the gain at 0 or heavily overdriven with gain past 1 o'clock, but was missing that middle portion I was looking for

 So let's have a listen to that. So there's a bit of an idea of the kind of sounds you can get from the BD2. You can crunch up some of the already existing clean tones, you can go right into lead territory if you like and pretty much everywhere in between. We've looked at the level, we've looked at the gain

 Okay, so nice and clean. Now let's bring in the BD2 and what I like to do with that is keep the gain all the way off and then turn on the BD2, bring the volume up to the same as my amp when it's actually on. So that's about right. So I'm just going to roll in the gain and I think about 30% really does give you that kind of Hendrix-y crunchy tone which is really cool

 So rather than me bang on too much about all that here, let's just take a listen to the tones you can get out of it. Let's start with a nice clean tone from the amp so you can hear what I'm playing with. Okay, so nice and clean. Now let's bring in the BD2 and what I like to do with that is keep the gain all the way off and then turn on the BD2, bring the volume up to the same as my amp when it's actually on
