 To the right is the boost volume, you can either use it as a clean boost by itself, which is lovely, or choose your own by yourself, or them both. That little switch here puts it pre or post the effect as well, which is pretty cool. It's not as crazy expensive as you might think as well. It's extremely well priced

<p>With that said, I have owned a Fender Cyber Deluxe and now own a Marshall MG30fx, but didn’t love either of them.  I mostly a “campfire” play-in-my-basement by myself player, but would like a pure tube amp and a couple of pedals that will let me play bluesy music…. AC/DC crunch…. And maybe some clean stuff.</p>

<p>Based on just reading, I was leaning toward a Vox ac15, but just want everyone’s opinions:</p>

 It is one of the most fun pedals out there, and I really feel that if you have the most basic (good) tube amp and this pedal, you could go a long way.  One big downside is that there is no level control in terms of overall gain in the loop. Obviously, when you throw on an effect, you don't want to blow the house down, but that is what this does unless you tweak its processing characteristics. I am still trying to play with that

 Most other pedals have some sort of output level control.  I don't care because I am having so much fun with this. Play notes, power chords or whatever and listen to the "motor run" on a good amp. It just runs and runs

 Well hello Captain Obvious I think the name gave it away, but the point is it's a tube screamer. It works and sounds and feels exactly like a tube screamer shrunk down which is great for pedal boards. Obviously give you plenty of room on your pedal board. and the way they got away with that is that there's no nine volt battery option so you have to always plug it in

 but especially, it's especially great if you're running a distorted amp or you're running another pedal and you want to drive the pedal really hard. That level control is perfect for that. And of course, the gain control Overdrive control cleans up really nicely at lower levels. and as you turn up the overdrive obviously it's a little thicker

 Today I'm playing a Fender American Standard Stratocaster through a Fender Princeton Reverb amp and here we are with the Tube Screamer mini bypassed and here it is engaged. same classic tubescreamer sound and I'll even mess with the control so you can hear we're listening to hear hears with the tone down. And then here's the tone back centered and there's a center detent for it as well. And here's the level control I Always like it slightly above unity game if you know just to drive the amp a little harder

I am in the market for my first tube amp. Currently I am slowly working my way through some Rhoads era Ozzy, trying and failing at a lot of Schon and Sykes stuff. Having grown up in the 80s all that stuff is my biggest influence, though I just started playing a couple of years ago. Current amp is a solid state 80s Randal RG50-112 combo attached to a 2x12 Randall cab.

So I can go with another combo or head. I def need something with a master volume and/or headphone out I assume if I want any level of natural dist. Pretty set on Marshall but might also consider a 5150 variant. I admit looking at the landscape it seems pretty saturated and I am having a very hard time separating wheat from chaff. What should I be looking at for a used budget of &lt;700?

 I didn't want my money back. No biggie. These things should be purchased from a music shop where there are people that are knowledgeable. Amazon should only be used for certain things

It didn't work.

Get a tube screamer and spend a lot of time playing around with different amp settings, guitar settings, and pedal settings in combination.  A lot of the sound is going to come from how those things interact rather than the pedal itself.
