Okay so let's go through some of the reverbs, firstly the patch is called hole reverb which is a little bit misleading but we're actually on a room reverb with five seconds of decay.

 The RV-500 is sub £400 pedal which is amazing it means it's coming in more affordable than some of its competitors which is really impressive. So if you're in the market for a new reverb pedal I definitely recommend checking out the RV-500 I think you'll be massively impressed especially if you want high fidelity customisable stereo reverbs.  It's got the most insane routing capabilities, so although this is a stereo pedal, you can run in two effects loops, the cool thing is that you can actually route one reverb to one effects loop, and a completely different reverb to another. On top of the delay that you can blend in with these reverbs, you've got the most insane control of any stereo reverb pedal on the market. It's a 96k 32-bit processor in there, so that's twice as powerful as I think anything else that's currently available. It's fully MIDI programmable, you can hook this up with any kind of MIDI controller, also it has USB so you can use the librarian editor and backup all your patches and customise them on your computer for Mac or Windows

Experienced advice/suggestions on Reverb pedals?

 Sound is so subjective, but there are plenty of high quality videos with sound samples for you to hear. I’ll share some thoughts below, but use your ears.  Flexibility: 5/5. The “ASSIGN” functions are a hidden gem here

 All this in a REVERB pedal that doesn’t break the bank.  Now will this replace your delay pedal? I have to say it depends. I lurked and participated in a host of forums with posters indicating that the delays are insufficient to replace their unique modulated delays of choice, but we don’t all rely on those. I say it boils down to how much you rely on delay, and what flavor of delay you rely on

 Good software editor. Good control of EQ per preset. Buffered or True Bypass mode is appreciated. I turned that buffer right off as there was already too much buffering in my chain

Boss RV-500 Reverb

Boss RV-6 is really good. I love the secret shimmer with the tone backed off, and the modulation is great. Dynamic is useful, normal modes are all great, and it is pretty much a complete digital delay too.

I'm very torn between the holly grail, the hall of fame 2 and the fender marine layer. All I need is a standard reverb with a little bit of flexibility. Any other recommendations would be much appreciated.

I need help choosing an "ordinary" reverb

 The footswitches are the smoothest of any similar 'stompbox' I own.  If you want to edit programs more comfortably, BOSS provides a free editor for PC or Mac. Frankly, even with menu diving, I find this box pretty easy to tweak right from the onboard screen - things are that well laid out.  Sound-wise, all the usual suspects are there - you have BEAUTIFUL sounding spring, plate, hall and room reverbs, and just under 200 program slots (including factory presets) to store tons of variations of each

Best bang for your reverb buck

 Let's get fancy now and add some delay and of course some delay. I've got a BOSS DD-500 set up here with the dual delay option set to about 1200 milliseconds 1.2 seconds. Here's what the reverb and the delay sound like together

 So, if it's in momentary mode, the effect that we're going to be looking at is only active when you are pressing the switch down. Let off the switch, the effect goes away. If you've got it set to on-off, then you can hit the switch, the effect engages, and it will stay engaged until you turn it off. And then finally, what we're doing with this particular set of sounds is we're actually capturing a slice of the reverb tail, and that third option allows you to determine how long of a slice you'd like to capture, 0 to 100

 Assigning functions to the tap control switch is really easy. Just dial up any preset you wish, go into edit mode, and then select the control menu option from that top level menu. The first thing you'll see is tap slash CTL, and there are several assignable functions from that particular option. And then below that is a mode option, and this allows you to flip between momentary and on-off

 I'm going to play a low B and create a drone. Yeah, that's nice. So RV-500 drone in the box. Pretty cool

NPD (DD-8). Finally starting to feel like an actual "board" rather than just a few random pedals

Great reverb

 Okay so the first reverb type is room, this is a medium room setting, with a pretty flat EQ, and I've got a little bit of a high cut on there, so let's check that out. Okay the next patch is a large hall type reverb, I've turned the effect level up quite a bit, I've added a little bit of modulation, and I've maxed out the density parameter. Okay the next patch is a plate type reverb with a high cut, and I've turned the pre-delay up quite a bit. The next patch is a spring type reverb, and I've got a little bit of a slap back delay on there, all of that's coming from the RV-500, and I've got a little bit of a high cut on the spring reverb to take some of the harshness out of it, so let's check that out

 They're really compact and really neat looking, so this is it right here, this one you've been looking at. So you can contact Brian at Saturnworks and tell him what you need if you don't see it on the website. He was just really great at answering all my questions and making sure I got what I needed, and I'll put a link to Saturnworks website in the description. So this foot switch I have here is a latching switch on one side with an LED, and I've got my patches set up so that I can use this side to turn the delay on and off on the RV500, and the other switch is a non-latching switch with a soft touch switch, and I use that one to control the tap tempo

 He was just really great at answering all my questions and making sure I got what I needed, and I'll put a link to Saturnworks website in the description. So this foot switch I have here is a latching switch on one side with an LED, and I've got my patches set up so that I can use this side to turn the delay on and off on the RV500, and the other switch is a non-latching switch with a soft touch switch, and I use that one to control the tap tempo. And so this pedal just connects to the control expression jack of the RV500 with a single TRS stereo cable, and I can use both of these switches to control the delay on the RV500. With it set up like this, I have the tap control switch on the actual unit freed up to either be the third reverb patch, or I can use it like a hold switch, or whatever else I want
