 We are here in the hitting bay with Calloway's Mac Daddy CB Wedge. We've got Chrome Softballs here. I'm going to hit five shots and see what sort of experience we can have. Right out of the gate, a little thin

 As you can see, we get almost 110 yards of carry. Now I did not hit that perfectly flush, I actually hit just a tiny little bit behind the ball, so that ricochet in the way the sole grind's built in the very forgiving sole of this product is definitely playing a role in the fact that I almost hit that pin high at 110, even though maybe I didn't quite deserve it. So we'll hit a couple more. That's pretty funny

1, descent angle is a really big one for me as in a wedge, 0.3 degrees of deviation, peak yards in total zero deviation, as you can see looking through them upwards of 37 with that slightly different one, but 35 and 36 pretty consistently, carry was almost identical, total yards almost identical because they were landing quite, quite nicely on a dime. What I'm seeing here overall is pure consistency. I did have a couple shots I wasn't particularly excited about, there was one thin, there was a couple a little bit heavier than I wanted

The MD CB wedges from Callaway Golf came out a couple of weeks ago and we wanted to put them to the test.  This review shows all of the swings and the data and paints the picture on whether or not this has the spin and consistency.

Nice golf wedge.  Great out when on the beach

 Player friendly shaping, a slightly larger head and thicker top line and Callaway's proprietary jaw grooves combine to offer the confidence of an iron with the control of a wedge. Now in the mid and high lots, a modified W grind enhances bounce to give greater forgiveness during bunker play and hitting shots from deeper off. The addition of jaws grooves with a precise edge and sharpness also helps golfers generate lots of spin from a host of lies. In the sand lob models, jaws grooves extend across the whole face, an innovation borrowed from Callaway's PM grind wedges developed in consultation with star professional Phil Mickelson to give control wherever you hit it

 I was going to film and talk to the camera whilst on the course but it was just a little bit windy. Either way I've put this club through a range of testing and I've played a few holes with it as well. What I'm going to show you today is the testing that I did. So the first bit of testing I did was from about 70 or 80 yards, so that kind of 3 quarter wedge swing

 The bounce of the club went through it completely my fault and it went too far. But once I kind of got the hang of it, once I was pretty comfortable with getting the sand in my eyes, I was hitting a lot of chunk and runs and they were very easy. The large offset, the massive amount of bounce that you get under this, you can really go under the sand, get through it and you can really get some good results here. This is exactly what this 60 degree wedge is built for and you can really tell

 Dr Alan Hocknell, the Senior Vice President of Research and Development at Callaway Golf has said that the Mac Daddy CB wedges will be the club's golfers go to after playing their set wedges for a period of time but wish to step up to a more specialist bespoke product without any loss of forgiveness or ease of use. So with the technology done, let's talk about the overall performance of this club. Now first of all, let's go from the 70 or 80 yard mark to begin with. Now I must apologize, you can see the hat that I'm wearing is a massive tuft out of the back of my head

I lost my old attack wedge and was looking for a replacement. This one sounded good so I thought I would give it a try. The "feel" was okay, but not like my old one. I figured I would give it a month to see if greater familiarity would lead to better contact and feel

 And because I am now playing graphite shafts in all my clubs, including my new irons, I actually just wanted the consistent feel of playing graphite in the wedges as well. Just didn't want kind of a different feel when I grabbed my wedge. Now, what's really interesting about this, and I can't tell you all the signs about it, but basically what they do here is perimeter weight. So it should be more forgiving

 And I tell you what, it was awesome. Just feels so good. It's so forgiving. It's got a nice tempo to it

 All right. I played all day, full 18 with this Mac Daddy Cavity Back Wedge. And I tell you what, it was awesome. Just feels so good

 I really kind of wanted the perception of more head weight down low, down on the head than just on the whole club itself. And I really kind of like this shaft. And because I am now playing graphite shafts in all my clubs, including my new irons, I actually just wanted the consistent feel of playing graphite in the wedges as well. Just didn't want kind of a different feel when I grabbed my wedge

Game changer for me

 I'm gonna do a quick close-up look at the heads, more so for the face, because 52 is different to 56 and 60 with how the grooves are on the face, but we'll have a close-up look at that, have a quick close-up at how they look behind the golf ball, then we'll hit some full shots and just make sure that these lofts, do they hit the ball the same distance that I would with my current wedges, which are blades? I'll give you a little bit of feedback as to looks and feel, and then, like I said, we'll get out on the course and look at some performance for the rest of the short game. So I'll hit just a few shots initially with the 52. Now, definitely wanna put it down behind the golf ball. I think it's a decent-looking wedge, definitely much, much better-looking wedge than kind of a lot of the gap wedges that match the sets, like I said at the start

 For me, maybe just a little bit limited with the sole width and the amount of bounce. But it's cold out here, let's get back inside and let's give you a full overview of what I think of the Mac Daddy CB wedges. Right then guys, so that's it for today.  I'm gonna hit just a few full shots quickly and give you an idea on do they perform differently on distance. I'm then gonna go out on the golf course, hit some pitch shots, some chips, and some bunker shots, and we're gonna see if you're in the market for new wedges, is the Mac Daddy CB something from Callaway that you should be considering? Right then, guys, so I've got 52, 56, and 60 degrees, so the lofts that I would use. Never a bad shot!

 Yeah. This, at least in here, sounds good, feels good, which is, again, can't fit for those things. I can check it out. One thing I did leave off, the KBS Hi-Rev, that's the standard steel shaft that comes in it

 I think I'm surprised most by feel. It feels nice and solid. It doesn't feel like most game improvement clubs kind of feel clanky sometimes. And they don't sound good

 This guy is new to the lineup. Yes. I think a lot of guys, we even talked about this off camera, I go, this would not be a bad option if you're looking for like a gap wedge, more of a full swing one, even as a better player, if you're trying to get a certain distance out of it and it is more of a full swing club and you very rarely chip with it. Yeah
