 So it's geared like a road bike, it's not designed to go up the side of a mountain, but I thought I'd give it a try. I'm going to do a review by itself for the 105 gears and the 105 groupset just by itself.  But I like the 105 gears on here, Shimano did good with the double click option and I can actually shift down 4 gears, which is nice and it's a little bit different. I have 105 on my Ridley Phoenix, but I like how it's geared and I like that it definitely has the feel of a road bike. Only issue is this hill is definitely getting me, but I'll see you guys on the other side. The Quick comes with a ton of reflective features, as you can see, it lights up like a Christmas tree

The Cannondale Quick is one of the best hybrid bikes out there.  Equipped with 700X32 tires and a Shimano 105 groupset, this bike is as fast as a road bike, but with straight bars that give it an off-road stance.  Put the 11-28 gearing and Schwalbe Spicer reflective slicks together and this rig flies down the pavement.  I threw on some WTB All Terrains and now it flies down dirt as well.  Enjoy.

I bought a bike a few years back, used it to commute in all weathers and managed to get relatively fit. The bike was a GT Traffic 3 and it was ideal at the time. It cost me just £400 and while not expensive, I loved it.

I’m ashamed to say I neglected it to the point where it’s ready for scrapping. All the bolts have rusted, the chain and wheels need replacing, etc., etc. I also neglected my fitness!

Anyway, I’m moving home soon and ready to start getting fit again but I’m not sure what to go for. Im not a huge fan of road cycling as our roads are pretty awful - as are a large % of the drivers!

So, I’m looking for something in the £5/600 price range, mainly for smooth (shared) path cycling, for daily use, to be easily maintained. I’ll be using it in all weathers and it doesn’t need to be uber-light.

Any recommendations from those in the know would be greatly appreciated.

I come to you today seeking your collective advice. This is a throwaway account for obvious reasons.

I’m a 34 year old male, a former smoker for 20 years (*I quit two months ago!*),  and am overweight. I’m 6’ and roughly 240lbs. I’m strongly considering  getting into cycling to lose this weight. For reference I’ve been  overweight since I was 16.

I live  in Colorado. Most of my biking will be on cement, asphalt, and some dirt  roads. I don’t intend to try anything “mountainous” for the time being –  but would like to be able to tackle some beginner trails eventually. I  also intend to use it to commute to work (about ½ mile each way). I plan  on getting a trunk mounted bike carrier for my car so I can go places.

I’m  trying to find a bike and from what I’ve read I’m either looking at a  “Hybrid” or a “Gravel” bike. The two that have caught my eye, if I’m on  the right track here, are the Checkpoint ALR 4 and the FX Sport Carbon  4. Both of these bikes are made by TREK.

What  do you all recommend? Or am I too big for these bikes? Should I be  looking for a different kind of bike? I have not climbed on a bike for,  like, 18+ years.

Seeking advice. I'm 34, overweight, and want to get into cycling for weight loss and recreation.

 It's light, it's easy to control, it goes fast in the flattened road. What you need to be careful is, you know, the tire is quite similar to the road bike. So when you go downhill, when you go with the unstable road, like the road that you see in the video. So you need to be extremely careful when you turn the handle, when you speed it up, when you slow it down, because the touch between the tire and the surface, you know, is limited

I know that Canyon makes 2xl frames, which is fantastic! Except they have a bike+rider weight limit of 120kg, and he's right around there just himself.

Any other wombo frame makers? Or how hard and fast are the weight limits? Looking for a fairly basic hybrid bike, with a base range around $850 (I do understand that bigger frame probably cost more).
