To help explain the specific function of features found on the EOS Rebel T4i, the feature guide displays a simple description helpful in determining the applicability for the situation at hand. GPS COMPATIBLE
With the optional GPS Receiver GP-E2 attached to the hot shoe or the digital terminal, the EOS Rebel T4i can record location, including latitude, longitude and altitude, plus can track the trajectory of movement with its logging function. An electric compass records the camera’s orientation during each shot, and world time information is recorded through GPS syncing.

JPEG RESIZING
To create images suitable for sharing by email or online, the EOS Rebel T4i can resize JPEG files, in camera, of varying pixels (aspect ratio cannot be changed, only the image size can be decreased) while leaving the original image untouched.

 The t4i is a low end camera, and the bottom line is - the pictures aren't all that great. I expect my subjects to be sharply in focus, but the t4i doesn't deliver.  Pros - extremely fast from power-on to shutter snap (click-snap - it's that fast) - the touch screen is awesome - it takes all Canon lenses - though somewhat lightweight, the camera can take some serious abuse (weather, drops, lots of outdoor shooting) - the self cleaning sensor mechanism has been flawless - I can shoot a typical event for about six hours on one battery charge (up to four days if I'm just sight seeing and taking the occasional picture) - people who don't know cameras often confuse this one with a high-end model  Cons - the t4i doesn't support micro-adjustments so even still images end up "soft focused" - during video, the camera frequently has to re-seek focus even on a slowly moving subject, rendering constant focus video useless - photographers can not customize presets, so you're stuck having to adjust your settings after every single mode change - auto-focus with a moving subject is really hit-or-miss - mostly miss - HDR (with a tripod, of course) was a huge disappointment  Summary If you are trying to decide between the t3i, t4i, and t5i, I highly recommend this one - the t4i. It's a solid step up from the t3i, and the t5i costs a lot more for very little improved functionality

I've been using this camera for two years and have taken approximately 60,000 images. I shoot events, primarily outdoors. The t4i is a low end camera, and the bottom line is - the pictures aren't all that great. I expect my subjects to be sharply in focus, but the t4i doesn't deliver

 That said, image quality is really great. I have written a separate review on the STM lens. I am sure many have said this, but i would like to repeat - Buy this with STM lens ONLY. Both STMs out there are really worth it and I have seen little/no difference in image quality when compared to some of the L series

Video mode has been mentioned by reviewers as a good try but not there yet - i've found the AF coupled with half press (in effect manual focus) for fast moving subjects does the job decently.  I am waiting for Amazon to send me new one and hoping it to be defect free

 Also, the setting snapshot that we see below the subject in the viewfinder was just not clear. Compared it with another t4i which had no such issues over the last few months. So forced to return it to Amazon. Really disappointed with the lack of quality from Canon

With a full nine cross-type autofocus points compared to the one of its predecessors, we had a much easier time focusing on distant subjects than either of the other two. There's an auto-picture style mode now, which can let you get more color out of scenes without you having to select one yourself, and two dedicated positions on the dial for multi-shot noise reduction and HDR mode. Both combine several images together, four for the multi-shot or three for the HDR, and they produce surprisingly good results

Canon Rebel T4i video review

So, firstly, the camera takes fantastic pictures. The lens is awesome and the camera has all the features you will need for taking great shots. The weight is okay, but with the 18-135mm lens its a bit big. Takes a normal SDHC card, so no problems with that

Good Pictures, but...

 Still as a package it offers enough to make this little DSLR a very worthy choice. It's a joy to use with its touchscreen interface and it doesn't let you down when you press that shutter button and also when you take videos. Although for the consumer level one has to acknowledge that the autofocus mode and video isn't a sure-fire way of letting technology do the work for you. It has potential but not quite there for now

 Is that right? The opposite. 12 groups, 6 elements. That lens and 4 elements. No, 4 groups, 6 elements

 I also appreciate the autofocus abilities because I feel this will be more useful to my wife and myself. I know my wife will just want to be able to pick up the camera and start shooting. I will also be able to try my hand at manually focusing during video when I feel I am knowledgeable/skillful enough to do so, yet still have a decent enough autofocus available.  - The price premium over the T3i wasn't a big factor (though I wish the kit with the 18-135 lens had come out before I HAD to buy; I didn't like having to pay a premium just for the lens, but this was a birthday present and I wanted the whole package ready to go)

  - The STM lenses should help the convenience factor of shooting video with a DSLR. I was excited about the new STM lenses, because I have seen many examples of how loud a lens is on video. I also appreciate the autofocus abilities because I feel this will be more useful to my wife and myself. I know my wife will just want to be able to pick up the camera and start shooting

 When testing out the 18-55mm lens, I knew we would need something with more reach. The last thing we are going to want to do is carry around multiple lenses along with all our baby gear (though I am going to put the 40mm pancake on my wish list). Image quality appears excellent and will definitely serve our purposes.  Why didn't I give it 5 stars? - Size/Feel: I have big hands and it feels small to me (my wife has small hands so it will probably be just right for her)

Great camera, esp. with 18-135 STM lens

 It's not so much about the quality of the camera as it is about the lenses. So when you're shopping for a camera, the best thing you can do is actually not to go out and buy and spend $4,000 on the newest camera that comes out on the market. Rather what you want to do is buy a pretty good camera, definitely one that shoots 1080p, and then focus on the lenses because that's where the magic happens with these lenses. And instead of spending $4,000 on a camera, you can go out and spend $800 on a camera and then use that other $3,000 to buy lenses and top of the line equipment for your camera

  18MP is more than enough for ANYONE who wants to take great pictures. Images are detailed and, depending on the lens, crisp. The AF system is a dramatic change from the previous generations. I used a T2i for several months before buying this to familiarize myself with DSLRs and the T4i's autofocus is fast and accurate

 It is a do-all lens. Spent a week in NYC with only this lens and it worked flawlessly. Also, if you are looking to buy this camera and intend to keep it in automatic, just do yourself a favor and get a Sony NEX-series or an even more simple point and shoot. The joy of a DSLR is in the usage of its capabilities

 The AF system is a dramatic change from the previous generations. I used a T2i for several months before buying this to familiarize myself with DSLRs and the T4i's autofocus is fast and accurate. Remember that it is a cropped sensor so multiply all focal lengths by 1.6 to get the real length  The shinning star of the camera is the touchscreen

Great for hobbyists UPDATED

30pm just as the sun was beginning to make its way out. The next was taken at approximately the same time and as with other Canon cameras it handles the color red really well. This next picture was taken a little later in the evening and this really shows you how the camera performs even when the light begins to drop. This picture was taken with a lower aperture value and it really shows you how the camera handles depth of field

 And as I take it away it locks the focus back into the face. So as you can see the autofocus on the T4i is really slow and clunky. Now the autofocus motor is also pretty noisy as it tries to lock focus. The battery life on the T4i is pretty adequate and is very comparable to DSLRs in its class

 We recommend buying a 16GB or larger SD card so that you have sufficient space to store your media without having to transfer them from your camera to your computer very often. So overall the T4i is a solidly built DSLR camera that offers a host of features such as full HD video recording at 24 frames per second. It also offers outstanding image quality. So if you are looking to enter the world of DSLRs this is a great starting point

 Now we are going to test the autofocus speed on the T4i and to do this we already have an image in focus which is the little guy's face and I am going to bring another object into view and see how quickly the autofocus motor locks the focus. So here it goes. And as I take it away it locks the focus back into the face. So as you can see the autofocus on the T4i is really slow and clunky
