 5. Cetaphil Daily advance ultra hydrating moisturiser (MRP 400/ nykaa): this was suggested to me by my dermatologist long back and I kind of stuck with it.

  Dearest AusSkincare patrons, here’s a post-lockdown gift that you never asked for: reviews of all my empties (and almost empties)! Essentially, I will be going through my rubbish bin, before I traipse off to give it all to TerraCycle, because I love empties posts, it’s a rainy day and I’m at peak procrastination. 

As you might be able to tell, I attack all my tubes with scissors to get at their gooey centres. If you fit the tubes back together so they don’t dry out, you can often get several weeks’ more use out of them.

My skin type: sensitive, normal-dry, not acne-prone. Very prone to sunburn and pigmentation. I’m prone to itchy skin on my body (particularly my chest, back and arms), and I get dermatitis on my hands (particularly in winter). 

I’ll group the products into categories, and keep adding mini-reviews in categories in the comments. Everything was probably purchased at Priceline unless otherwise specified. WRP=would repurchase, WNRP=would not repurchase, HG=holy grail

**Skincare**

**Paula’s Choice Resist Optimal Results hydrating cleanser (PC)**. My partner’s – I’m being a cheapskate when it comes to cleansers atm (using Garnier micellar foaming gel, which removes makeup well, isn’t drying and the grape extract makes it smell interesting!) I steal it occasionally: feels very luxurious, removes makeup perfectly and feels like it’s actually nourishing your skin. Pricier than fragrance-free chemist stuff, but it is a step up. **WRP** or at least continue to thieve

**Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gelee Milk cleanser**. Definitely more of a morning cleanser. I have seen other redditors question whether this even cleanses – that is a fair question. I used my Face Halo at night if I was wearing makeup, and I think the Face Halo was doing all the cleansing... **WNR**

**Paula’s Choice Redness Relief toner for normal to dry skin (PC).** One of my favourite toners of all time. It has a milky consistency which makes it easier to apply with just your fingers compared to more liquid toners. Very soothing and hydrating. It’s a real game-changer in dry winters: a way more useful step than TO hyaluronic acid serum! **HG**

**Paula’s Choice Weightless Advanced repairing toner (PC).** My partner chose this – for reasons unknown since their skin is very dry…Eh, it’s fine. Doesn’t seem to do much except lightly hydrate. The Q+A toner is probably comparable for a lower price. **WNR**

**PC4Men (Paula's Choice) shaving cream (PC)** is great, according to everyone I know who's used it (to shave their faces). Runs rings around anything you can buy in supermarkets and the Proraso shave cream that they flog at some places... **HG**

**Paula’s Choice advanced pore-refining treatment 4% BHA** (PC). Wow, I bought this years ago, the packaging is at least two font styles out of date haha, which indicates how seldom I used it. I used to be a lot more acne prone \~5 years ago, hence this product. It’s got a high silicone content, which feels a bit weird, but probably counteracts the drying effects (I find the famous 2% BHA much more drying when I used it back in the day…). Takes down breakouts pretty quickly. I’ll give it a few weeks and see if I can go without it… **WRP** if needed

**Paula’s Choice Skin Recovery super antioxidant concentrate serum with retinol** (PC). Again, lots of silicone – gives it a honey-like consistency (and it’s honey colour). It has a low percentage of retinol so I used it on nights when I wasn’t using a higher strength product. Feels like it locks in moisture and only slightly sticky. I’m almost certain this was a gift with purchase that might be repeated so probably…**WNR** 

**Revolution 5% caffeine eye serum.**  I prefer Revolution’s eye serum to The Ordinary’s. It has the same (slight...) de-puffing effects and the formula is better (TO develops a powdery residue around the dropper). I tend to pump too much so it goes over most of my face. Is it depuffing? Hard to say. Is it hydrating? Maybe slightly. It didn’t play well under the Derma e tinted cream above. **WRP** (probably. Maybe I’ll try the Inkey List or Good Molecule’s to be a completist)

**Revolution 0.5% retinol in rosehip oil.** Just like TO’s various oily retinols (tried various percentages). I can't say conclusively that it did nothing but I've switched to an Avene retinal so will see how that goes. I’ve been thinking that it’s time to start incorporating retinol into my body care so I’ll no doubt buy one of these iterations again. **WRP**

**Revolution 10%** **niacinamide serum**. It really does tighten the appearance of pores and might reduce redness a bit. I have to avoid my nose because it leaves a shiny appearance I dislike. I can’t compare this to TO cos it’s always out of stock. I’m testing out the Q+A niacinamide toner now, which has much nicer finish on the skin and is more versatile for me. **Probably WNRP**
