These were the ones that caught my eye as first time revolver buyer: Chiappa Rhino 50DS, Ruger GP100, S&W 686 or 686+, S&W 627 (mainly the v-comp version). And recently the S&W 638/649 for no reason other than to have a "hammerless" snub-nose that is DA/SA.

I own all of these plus a Chiappa Rhino and a Dan Wesson revolver so I am speaking from first hand experience. The S&W J-frames and SP-101 have a much heavier trigger pull (due to smaller frame and hammer size) that lead to bad habits for novice shooters (snatching or jerking the trigger, flinching,etc) and usually a shorter sight radius that makes them much much more difficult to shoot well.
