 This will be the one that I have mounted up here. I will be using, playing lots of games, even just, you know, doing some work watching videos with that 4K resolution is great to have. I do have a GPU that can, you know, crank up the frames per second in games up to that 160 hertz. So I can get 160 frames per second in games

 Of course, we have to do some gaming. I've been playing a lot of Apex Legends, which is a fast paced first person shooter, great to test the latency, the response, everything's very responsive, no issues whatsoever. Again, especially with everything being so quick, running around the map, you really got to swap guns, you have to, you know, jump, slide down hills, all that kind of stuff. Anyways, it also does have AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, which also does mean it's G-Sync compatible as well

 If you've seen any of our previous reviews of Cooler Master monitors then the overall design language is pretty similar. The front of the screen sports slim bezels on the top and sides and there's a chin measuring about 14mm thick. We also do get a grey metal stand which definitely helps add a bit more of a premium feel and we can see the hexagonal shaped foot that is clearly designed to look like Cooler Master's logo. Round the back then, the rear of the screen is made from a matte black plastic

 Absolutely in my view, 4K resolution is best suited to a 32 inch panel where you still will get a higher PPI than something like a 27 inch 1440p screen but you also of course get more screen real estate. However I actually switched from a 34 inch 3440 by 1440p screen to the GP27U and I have to say the increase in detail was still very noticeable for me and I typically sit about a foot or a foot and a half from my display. It is of course very much down to personal preference and like I said I would prefer a 32 inch version but I also don't agree that 4K is wasted at the 27 inch screen size. Everything looks super sharp and I absolutely love the text clarity

 So not only does this screen offer a 4K 160Hz IPS panel with quantum dot technology, but it's also massively enhanced with a mini LED backlight that has 576 dimming zones. So this is real HDR and it's offered at just £800 here in the UK, potentially making it absolutely fantastic value. Interested? Well, let's dive into the review. Cooler Master Tempest GP27U Review: Mini-LED 4K/160Hz!

 Well, it's here, and we're about to see whether it's any good. The design is pretty standard, Cooler Master really aren't trying anything fancy here. The stand is constructed from a nice metal, and the base appears to be shaped like the Cooler Master logo. Size-wise, it's pretty similar to other square-type bases we've seen from other monitors, but I guess it's more like a ring with a circular pillar

 It has a good refresh rate, and the only lingering concern is input lag, though for some gamers that will be a non-issue, especially as for HDR gaming, input lag tends to be a common problem. I was impressed with how wide the colour gamut is here, providing great coverage of sRGB, P3 and AdobeRGB, plus a whopping 85% Rec 2020 coverage. Factory grayscale calibration is really solid, brightness is excellent and viewing angles are good. Aside from a few issues with the built-in modes and using dimming with SDR content, the GP27U is a pretty versatile monitor for content consumption as well as productivity

 The front of the display is very basic and lets the display panel do the talking, with typical bezels on all sides and a matte anti-glare coating you'll be familiar with if you've used other desktop LCD monitors. I'm not a big fan of the rear of this monitor though, and the overall construction doesn't seem all that premium, with mostly basic black plastic, a few seams, and basic RGB LED elements. It's definitely a gamer type of design, but doesn't seem like an $800 product. It's not a big deal though, as you'll rarely see the back of the monitor, and I'd rather see compromises in design than display hardware

 My personal opinion is that 27 inches at 4k is a little too small for 4k. So my only real problem with this monitor is that it's not like 32. That being said, pixel density snobs are going to really like that it's 4k 27. So it's up to, you know, personal preference

 It's 4k 100 and says on 160, but something's got to be up with ours. Um, or maybe there's an OSD setting we're not sure of, but we're getting 144 and it's 27 inches. My personal opinion is that 27 inches at 4k is a little too small for 4k. So my only real problem with this monitor is that it's not like 32

 We cranked down to 20. Yeah. That ghosting is now basically gone and this looks pretty crisp. Okay

Mini-LED is the new normal - Cooler Master Tempest GP27U

 And I also wanted to talk about the OSD a bit, because this is where I think Cooler Master can improve on. You can control it easily using the little joystick in the back, but the direction it goes to isn't always intuitive. Like, to accept a setting, you need to go to right. And some settings seem to be on or off, but that on-off is actually related to another setting, and I really don't like that it doesn't show which setting you're currently on
