 They are really heavy, beautiful crafted metal with a proper heat sink underneath. It's a big difference from cheaper options that often don't have much more than a thin piece of sheet metal. Now in most cases that won't matter much, but these models won't be cheap so it's nice to know for yourself that you're getting a premium quality product. Keep in mind they are quite tall, so do check compatibility if you're going for air-cooling

 When it comes to performance testing of these superfast DDR4 modules, I have to say it feels a bit unnecessary as when it comes to real-world impact, you can barely notice the difference between these and the mainstream speeds, which is now 3000 megahertz. However, it is nice to put them against a ton of other DDR4 kits that we've tested before and see if it performs as expected in our synthetic benchmarks. It is among the fastest modules out there. If you're wondering what the impact is on your actual gaming experience, well, these graphs should clear that up a bit

 Rating to 3200 megahertz will probably be worth the small price increase, but the higher rated models do become expensive fast, with 16 gigabytes of 4800 megahertz dominated costing as much as a 64 gigabyte kit rated at 3600 megahertz. Now, those are some very, very impressive speeds, but the number of scenarios where that will be a reasonable investment is small. That being said, not too long ago even 3200 megahertz memory seemed impossible, so I guess it's cool that Corsair is giving the richest among us a little glimpse into the future when we eventually move on to the DDR5s. TLDR; 50% of my 4 sticks work. My recommendation would be to spend a little more and find a different vendor if you need high clock high density sticks and avoid the 6+ hour headache hardware revision I just dealt with. Dominator Platinum is Corsair's top of the line DDR4 and for good reason. The memory makes use of a custom 10-layer PCB with hand-picked ICs and Corsair's Dual Path DHX technology. Corsair will be offering this memory in kits ranging from 16GB all the way up to 128GB and speeds as high as 4800MHz

I've moved onto the RAM side of things with my upcoming white build and I'm stuck on what to purchase. I really love the look of the Corsair Dominator range but sadly I can't find a white version of the 2 x 16 GB DDR4-3600, only DDR4-4000 which is expensive and I may not need it anyway?

Currently looking at:

What RAM should I go with and in what config? Please help

"  I understand the response, but XMP is not uncommon and matter a fact has XMP compatible stamped on the packaging. Corsair even has a XMP profile built into this RAM. Not to mention if I wanted 2133mhz RAM I'd have about MUCH cheaper RAM and just been as happy. Really disappointed by Corsair and this response

 Currently working to time this kit out, but I'm really saddened that I had to go through all of this for a bit more aesthetic at a premium price. So, let this be a bit of a warning..

 I've seen some responses advising that the tested speed is not guaranteed (yeah, JEDEC standards are) - but if it came down to that, we wouldn't be buying the more expensive C16 kit over the C18 one, right?  So maybe I am just unlucky: I've only ever used Corsair Dominator Platinum since DDR3 (~2012) and have steadily bought new kits as I've upgraded my systems every other year.  Moved on to an AMD x570-based system and doing the usual decided to check Motherboard QVL to ensure compatibility. First kit arrived with one bad memory module - fair enough. Second kit arrived and I sort of expected XMP to not work (double rank high density kit after all), so set off to manually time and test the memory modules

 Even has that A0 PCB that apparently makes things harder?!  Returned the RAM and decided to go to a local shop as I would not like Amazon determining my account to be "return heavy". Identical kit to what I purchased here - booted at XMP with barely any training. Cracked and picked up a third identical kit from a local vendor and finally have a functioning kit at "advertised speeds".
