Blew out two 24volt 20va chime transformers during setup; settled on a 16vac 2 amp (30va) transformer which limits the draw to 300 ma during charge. The unit switches back and forth from internal battery power to chime circuit power automatically when removed from holder cradle, making initial setup and testing confusing

 This camera only supports event recording, so please be aware of that. I prefer 24/7 because event recording doesn't always capture EVERYTHING, and it seems to top put at about 7 seconds of activity. There is the option to record the live feed if needed. I've had this installed for about a week now, and so far it has provided solid performance

 This seems to be a new product from Cree and it could definitely use some improvements. Below are some of the cons and issues:  1. I can't find any information on what transformer is required to power the doorbell cam. I disconnected my previous doorbell and connected the wires to this Cree video doorbell and I'm not getting any power to it

 3. I bought a microSD card for this camera and it does not save to the card. I formatted the card from the app and it shows that the SD card is installed and has available memory, but it doesn’t give me an option to save the video to the card. I’ve contacted customer service and never got a reply back

Set-up:  I've seen numerous reviews going in depth about how difficult this smart video doorbell is to set-up; some of them in quite impressive technical detail. However, I don't share their experiences.  Could the directions be better? Yes, especially for inexperienced DIYers.  Is the app a pain to work with? Initially, yes, yes it is

 People were able to hear me just fine. You are able to take screenshot of images when on the app (that’s is store on the app)  The only thing that I don’t like about this camera. There is no private setting. I can’t turn off the Camera at all

It was easy and basically flawless--at least as these things go when the user can make mistakes that look like manufacturer errors. Initially I made an assumption about how the connection process worked and it didn't connect, but when I actually read the directions and followed them, it connected immediately.  So my report is that hardware and software work well on this camera

I got a Cree outdoor camera together with this Cree video doorbell and I noticed that several purchasers of Cree products complained about difficulty setting up their camera.  I had a very different experience. I've bought big name networking items and had horrible times getting them connected--and replaced them with the identical product only to have the second work flawlessly. Maybe it's firmware updates
