I bought this as a birthday gift for my mom, who generally cooks brown or mixed rice. For that it works well and she says the rice tastes good. It takes longer to cook than the old National brown rice cooker she was using, and she says that the pot is harder to clean, so I guess the diamond coating or whatever isn't all that great, but otherwise she is happy with the rice cooker's performance. Also, this thing does not have a power button anywhere, which is annoying because the thing nags you to turn it off

They really do mean it when they say that the inner pot is non-stick. After all, it's main priority is making rice. I know for some people that may be a downside if they intend to burn and deglaze their pot for extra flavor in their dishes, but for rice.

 I wanted a couple main things from this machine. First, I wanted it's main focus to be on cooking amazing consistent rice of all types that can be kept warm for hours to days. And second, I wanted to make sure I had the pressure cooking option, both for my rice and for making some pressure cooker "instant pot" type of meals on occasion. Its super convenient to be able to switch between pressure and non pressure modes using the locking mechanism on the lid!

And second, I wanted to make sure I had the pressure cooking option, both for my rice and for making some pressure cooker "instant pot" type of meals on occasion. Its super convenient to be able to switch between pressure and non pressure modes using the locking mechanism on the lid!  If you are looking for a premium pressure rice cooker with extra abilities, but don't want shell out $4-600 for cuckoo or zojirushi's top models, then this may be the right cooker for you! Its probably a little too small for use as an instant pot alternative if you have a large family

 The Cuckoo automatically went into KEEP WARM mode. The first batch was just a test. Over the next 48 hours, my wife and I sampled a little here and there until we'd eaten it all. After 48 hours, if anything, the rice seemed even better than when first cooked
