These just pull free. The base of the blender is designed so that it can remain upright when it's not in use

 Any downsides, i suppose it could be that this blender seems to have just a short range between the lowest and highest speeds. It would be really nice, in my opinion, if it had a very high and fast setting, even if that high option drained the battery a little quicker. I do also wish it was a bit more powerful and didn't quite feel like it was struggling so much with those thicker batters.  While this is enough time for most things you'd use a hand mixer for, it doesn't feel good to bake while being cognizant of a time limit.  Since this is my first hand mixer, I can't compare its power to a corded hand mixer, but I'd guess it's weaker. I was disappointed in cordless mixer. Needs to have a higher speed. I have numerous cuisinart appliances but the cordless mixer needs a boost.

Very different

 Kitchen Aid has an “eject” button and most importantly it has a smooth on/off switch (not digital) that also controls the speed levels. It also fits perfectly in my hands. Evolution X wins hands down when it comes to packaging and looks good but the truth is Kitchen Aid doesn’t need to waste their time on a sexy presentation their products speak for themselves. Also the Kitchen Aid mixer is now on sale at Target for $79

 You’re better off buying the Kitchen Aid - it’s far more superior and you’re getting it for the same price as the crappy Evolution X! I’ll be returning the Evolution X. Pic attached so you can see both mixers side by side. No I didn’t get paid for this review. This is my honest opinion
