 Now I personally think that when you were getting into this size category of firearm, you would be foolish not to go with something in a rifle caliber. You can get a shorty 300 blackout with a can on it in the same exact size, it'll take the sting off of the supersonics in your house and you are going to be getting significantly more power out of that rifle cartridge, whether it be 556, 300 blackout, 762 by 39, 308 even if you want the big boy. Now I do think this would make an excellent home defense gun if you did want something that was quieter, had less recoil, maybe something for your trusted kid to run to if they're home alone and someone breaks into the house, this would make a great option. If you have someone in your home that you don't think could handle the ear splitting kaboom of an unsuppressed rifle in your home, then the nine millimeter would be another good option as well

So I have been doing tons of research lately on what my next gun purchase should be. I recently bought a CZ Shadow 2 and love it but before I pulled the trigger on the purchase my wife tried to talk me into buy a PCC instead. At the time I couldn't do it because I have to do tons or research on something before I buy it, hopefully to avoid buyer's remorse and getting stuck with a bad gun. 

There is just an overwhelming amount of options out there for something that's in 9mm that is considered a PCC. And I'm looking for something that is reliable and fun to shoot so the definition of PCC can be stretched... Pistol with a brace or something that's truly a short barreled rifle in 9mm and anything in between.

Some examples of my conflicting tastes:

I'm liking the Vector gen 2 but I've seen some bad reviews about it's reliability and awkwardness to use.

The Kalashnikov kp9 is also an option because my first rifle 15 years ago was a Saiga ak47 and I love that platform.

It seems like the CZ Scorpion is on every list I see about "best PCC options". I like CZ but the scorpion just seems cheap to me, granted that's coming from someone who's never seen one in person.

And where would we be without MP5/SP5 and to a much lesser degree the many clones of each... Of course I love them but I just don't think I can afford them.

Basically I am looking for a 9mm platform that has a butt stock, or brace that can be used as one, that I will probably mount a forward grip on (vertical most likely).

A PCC isn’t going to give you lighter recoil than a gas gun. Especially if it’s running low mass BCG. 

After some deliberation, I'm settling on a PCC for home defense for my wife. She's not gun friendly, but accepts the idea that it's better to be ready. She won't train enough to get proficient with a handgun, and the charging handle on an AR isn't going to work for her. (A couple trial runs with my AR has shown that.) I won't keep a loaded chamber on the AR so that eliminates the platform. 

So from a size, capacity, recoil, ease of use, and noise requirement, I'm going to get a PCC and put a suppressor on it. Got to have a side charging handle, and I'd prefer to go shorter rather than a carbine length barrel if possible. 

Any suggestions? I'd prefer to keep the price below $1k considering I'm still slapping a dot on it and suppressing it, I don't want to have $3k sunk into it. But if something is clearly superior for a few hundred more, I'll consider it.

PCC suggestions

I'd opt for the Scorpion solely based on that it is more compact and should be more easily manipulated inside the cab of a vehicle.
