 You get the same 90 millimeter swept handle, same knobs, same bearing count at seven plus one bearings. It's kind of disappointing. They should have given it more for you know, an extra 80 bucks. and of course all tattoo Lazar made in Thailand And yeah, that's kind of ridiculous that a $240 reel is not made in Japan but it is what it is

 so I wonder why Daiwa decided to call this the Elite instead of giving it the HLC designation. Oh well. Okay, so the Iowa said that they significantly lightened the spool of the Elite by using a higher grade aluminum the A 707 5 and as you can see here, for some reason, they didn't give it any kind of portholes so they didn't drill any kind of holes to lighten it up. Feels relatively light I can tell the difference there when I'm holding it versus the 100

 Yep, die. We'll hit it right on the money. Six point, Seven, Two five. So despite giving the Elite and aluminum handle side plate, they still managed to make it lose some weight

 Okay, so the original type-r weighs in at can't remember the weight seven point seven ounces. so not too bad, but kind of heavy by today's standards. And then the CT type bar weighs in seven point three ounces. And of course with the CT type bar

This is a quality made reel but it’s close to the $300 mark and boasts only 7 bearings and a mere 11lbs of drag. I don’t feel like the features meet the money. Daiwa has a history of doing this especially with their Evergreen line. They added the Evergreen name to the Z-Man chatterbait and turned a $6 lure in to a $20 lure

Honestly Lew's aren't bad but I'd go with a daiwa tatula for around that price. Trust me when I say you'll thank me later.

I 100% agree with the Daiwa Tatula.  I own a Curado DC and I bought my son a Tatula for 1/2 the price and in my opinion it’s a better casting reel.

 Reeled in a 1/2oz spinnerbait smoothly feeling very solid. I did catch a nice bass. I'm planning to replace two Curado Ks with these over The DCs. The Elite casted just as well as the DC, had fewer issues, and weights much less

Spooled up with 20lb Fluorocarbon and put on a St Croix Legend Tournament Bass Sweeper. It casted just as well as the Curado DC I had bought the same weekend. Reeled in a 1/2oz spinnerbait smoothly feeling very solid. I did catch a nice bass

Changed from a Curado  K 201XG to this Tatula Elite Pitch/Flip. I wanted something a little smaller to palm and the Curado just felt like over kill for the flipping stick.

I’ve got two of these and they’re absolute work horses. The T-wing system is great and this thing casts exceptionally well. Outcasts my scorpion dc by a little ways. The control on these reels is also very good

Daiwa Tatula. Under 200, casts great, solid drag. Hard to find a better real at the price point in my opinion.

So I have a couple spinning real setups, but have started to realize a baitcaster setup with a little higher gear ratio could really help get the most out of some of the lures and tackle I want to use this spring and summer.

Any recommendations on rod/reels or combos? I don’t mind spending a little money for good quality but don’t want to break the bank.
