But, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the 1280 set if that's what your budget allows. EDIT: PS, watch edifier's website, they have sales pretty often on one thing or another. If you were considering a component system at all, I've read good things on this sub about pairing Dayton B652-AIR speakers with a little class D amp.

I am content with this setup, and love the warmth the tube amp has added. Recently, I was able to upgrade space, and am not limited to headphones anymore. I was unsure how far I wanted to go down the audiophile rabbit hole, so I bought a cheap lepai lp2020 and Dayton B652 on the recommendation of a certain Steve Guttenberg. I ran them from the line out of the Schiit Vali.

I have it and I couldn't really stand it, the subwoofer is the definition of "boomy" and without the sub they seriously lack low end. That said, I probably would've loved it when I was 16 before I started getting into "hi-fi". You could do much better if you're willing to put in either the effort or extra money, though. Even something cheap like the micca mb42 or Dayton b652 with a lepai lp-2020ti would be better, although you could do much better used.
