The best 1080p curved monitor that we've tested is the Dell S2721HGF. It's designed as a gaming monitor, and it's great for this use. It has a black design with a gaming-oriented style that should look nice in your setup, and at 27 inches, it doesn't take up a lot of space. It has a 1500R curve, which isn't too aggressive, nor is it too subtle.

It has a 144Hz native refresh rate with FreeSync VRR support, and it's certified as being G-SYNC compatible to reduce screen tearing. Gaming feels responsive thanks to its low input lag. It has a quick response time at its max refresh rate, but like with other VA panel monitors, the response time in dark transitions is slow, leading to black smearing. Speaking of its VA panel, it displays deep blacks, but there's no local dimming feature. Even in a bright room, visibility won't be too much of a problem as it has very good reflection handling and high peak brightness.

Unfortunately, it has narrow viewing angles and limited ergonomics as you can't swivel it, so it's not an ideal choice for co-op gaming. Also, it doesn't support HDR at all, but that's somewhat normal for a low-cost monitor. The 1080p resolution may seem low to some, but as it's limited to HDMI 1.4 bandwidth, the lower resolution helps limit bandwidth. All in all, it's the best curved gaming monitor if you're on a budget.

The Dell S2721HGF is the best 1080p curved gaming monitor that we've tested. Although the lower resolution doesn't help achieve sharp images like a 1440p monitor, it's less taxing on your graphics card and allows you to achieve higher frame rates. It has a 144Hz refresh rate with native FreeSync support, and NVIDIA certifies it as G-SYNC compatible to reduce screen tearing.

Like other curved screens, it has a VA panel with a great native contrast ratio, but it lacks a local dimming feature. It also performs well in bright rooms because it has very good reflection handling and good peak brightness, but we don't suggest placing it opposite a window with direct sunlight. Looking at its gaming performance, it has low input lag for a responsive gaming experience, and it has a quick overall response time at its max refresh rate, but as expected with VA panels, there's black smearing with dark objects.

Unfortunately, it doesn't support HDR, so you're limited to playing games in SDR. Also, it has a slower response time at 60Hz, so it's not ideal for playing 1080p games from consoles, and there's more motion blur. On the plus side, our unit has great out-of-the-box accuracy, and it displays an excellent SDR color gamut, but we don't suggest using it for any photo editing on the size. Besides that, it's one of the better curved gaming monitors we've tested.

 The contrast ratio is the difference between the darkest black and the brightest white that a screen can display. Having a low contrast ratio makes it so that scenes that should be black appear more gray. The entire black slide is gray thanks to it’s low contrast, but there are noticeably brighter areas in the top corners the bottom left and the brightness leaks down towards the middle.

Choosing a Monitor?

 Ergonomically speaking, the control placement for a single monitor is actually pretty good (although the five-way joystick is a little touchy...and I'm not really sure why additional buttons are even needed with a five-way joystick) but with two side-by-side it's good for one and really bad for the other

After seeing it in person I understand the low price

 However, some of the color controls are a little difficult to access and a bit confusing at times. This display panel and have implemented it in a really competent way. The best thing to discover was that in all our important response time tests, the s 2721 dgf offers basically identical performance to the 27 gl850 overdrive works in a very similar way. Performance throughout the refresh range is also very similar, and that means we're getting an excellent gaming experience with rock solid motion handling

 This is a great dual use monitor for gaming and a bit of content creation, image, editing or video playback on the side. As this monitor is very similar to the 27g850, it suffers from the same main downside, which is the contrast. Ratio, lg have traded black levels to hit high levels of performance, so the contrast ratio ends up below average. Personally, i'd prefer the fast response times over deep blacks, but those that gain mostly in the dark might be put off by the contrast and also ips glow concerns

 It doesn't look bad, but it's not my favorite design and outside of that area. I think it looks pretty good. All the outer surfaces are basic plastic, so no reason to get excited by the build quality, although there are no obvious issues with the construction like dodgy seams, we do get a full range of motion with the stand as well, which is nice to see including height And pivot adjustability i'd expect no less from a more premium monitor and dell has delivered that here for inputs, we are seeing two hdmi and one display port the hdmi ports support up to 144hz so to get the full 165hz on offer, you'll need to be using Displayport, there's also a usb hub, but there's no built-in speakers only audio pass-through. As for the on-screen display, it's controllable through a directional toggle, which is nice and there's a reasonable array of features, including stuff, like frame rate displays available through the game enhanced mode

The s2721 dgf also offers the same great mix of excellent motion handling alongside great color performance, we're getting 95 p3 coverage, outstanding, ips, viewing angles and reasonable factory calibration for grayscale, with the help of a full calibration
