A review of the HEOS 5 Wireless Multi-Room Sound System

 Instead of simply taking any audio through the 3.5mm port, you need to specifically select the aux input in the Heos app and play local music through that app, since there are no source buttons on the unit itself.&nbsp;Thanks to the speakers' direct integration into many popular music apps, it&nbsp;made a wired connection less useful than a Wi-Fi connection. A Bluetooth option would have been a much better alternative

 Just plug in the included cable, press the Connect button on the back of the speaker, and follow the prompts to connect it to your network. The speaker automatically appears in the app once it's set up, and you can rename it and group it with additional speakers for different rooms. The app also lets you set up the Heos 5 to work vertically or horizontally, or to link two Heos 5 speakers together as a stereo pair.

Denon&#039;s Heos 5 wireless multi-room speaker is a solid entry into an increasingly crowded field, but it suffers from occasional distortion with extreme low-end.

The speaker itself is great. It has really good sound and looks pretty good. But, there are some issues with it. It will randomly start making popping noises and the only way to get it to stop is to unplug the unit

The HEOS 5 speaker has surprising bass and is sonically pleasing. That said, The Heos application is problimatical. I cannot play my music on an SD card in my Fire Tablet. I fear that this may be intentionally done by Demon to steer users to online subscriptions

My work around was to put music on a flac drive and insert it in the usb slot in the back of the speaker. Bluetooth will work, but I use Bluetooth with my smart phone and Bluetooth headphones

Great setup. Little complicated.

 This allows you to have a combo of wired (but hidden for the wife factor) and wireless for new places you can't run wire to or didn't account for in the past.

Liked the idea that they were thinking of the custom home (or smart home or legacy home) that might have in ceiling/wall speakers (Drive) and the amps, soundbar, outdoor (Heos 1 w/go pack). This allows you to have a combo of wired (but hidden for the wife factor) and wireless for new places you can't run wire to or didn't account for in the past. 

Bought the HEOS for it's amazing sound (for a mainstream product) and it's flexibility. Compared Sonos (v1), Bose and Polk and a few others and this sounded way better for a Class-D Amp/Speaker combo. .it is very "full"-it has a rich bass sound and is very clear as the volume goes up.  It does not sound "tinny" and is a good value compared to the sonos. While I love the speaker itself, the app to control it is not pleasing

I use my heos 5 nearly every day.  Sometimes on its own or with my 1 & 7. The speaker has great sound.

 Wow, live sound, it's a keeper. Well, after you have to spend some time to hook it  up with Wifi and figure out how to use an application. Hope they will clean all bugs soon.

I started with Sonos Play3 and wanted to like it. Didn't tell in love with sound quality, was that boxy artificial sound that made me wonder why they have so many good reviews. I brought Sonus back and switched to Denon's Heos. As soon as I paired it with my phone music started and I just said to myself what a difference
