 It initiates a turn really easily. It also is really easy to pivot in the trees and bumps so it's one of the stiffer skis in the DPS line. That being said it's not an exceptionally stiff ski but for sort of an all-mountain soft snow ski it's on the stiffer side. The Alchemist Whaler would be great for someone who wants a ski that's a little more substantial and can hold up to some higher speeds

 It has quite a bit of early rise rocker in the tip and just a little bit in the back but a decent amount compared to most skis. It also has a pretty solid camber underfoot which is one thing that is really nice when you're carving on the ski and getting it on edge. It initiates a turn really easily. It also is really easy to pivot in the trees and bumps so it's one of the stiffer skis in the DPS line

So the Whaler 100 is a do-it-all west coast all-mountain ski. This is the Alchemist construction which means that this version of the Whaler has a lot more carbon in it and so it's a more expensive ski

Is this $1200 ski worth the price tag?

The DPS Wailer 100 is the perfect ski to take on the soft snow out west. It’s Alchemist Pure Carbon construction creates a damp but extremely lightweight ski without sacrificing performance. It’s RP sidecut allows the Wailer to be forgiving yet powerful and reactive while turning. This ski is worth every penny.
