Plus my wife has an Android phone. I switched to an Ecobee thermostat with smart sensors, all Hue and Lutron stuff for lights, plus some Meross and other vendor neutral things for plugs and what not. It has been so mind blowing how reliable and fast it is. It always just works.

Never mind that I keep my house cold at night during the winter but don't want that when I have company over. No Nest knows best. Literally a feature of every thermostat in the world except Nest. So I ripped it out and put in Ecobee and haven't looked back.

Sounds like Ecobee is the way to go regardless for a HomeKit thermostat. Question is, other than cost, is there a reason not to go with 4? I know it has the Alexa comparability built in. Does that compromise privacy even if I don’t enable it or I’m only running a HomeKit system?

I like the Ecobee because it seems to give better control, especially with the remote sensors (Inthink Nest has these now). That said, few folks have had both & I haven’t, so I can’t really compare them.
