 One, if the/\s/services go down your ego, be smart. Thermostat will/\s/ continue to function as a thermostat. It will not/\s/be able to pair with the sensors, so that means/\s/ it will just take a temperature reading from here/\s/you will not be able to access this remotely. Which/\s/ means you lose access to those extra services/\s/that you know you've got a smart thermostat for/\s/ And three What I Seem to have found out is this/\s/happened a little more regularly than I thought/\s/ it did because Twitter was up in arms about this/\s/and and that first outage that I got to experience/\s/ was over 16 hours long

Hello I'm Wanderer001 And this is my review of/\s/the Eco Be Smart Thermostat with Voice Control/\s/ or Eco B5 because well, they kind of got rid of/\s/the naming convention with the numbers. so this/\s/ is the E could be five. There are a few things that/\s/differentiate this between the Eco B, four and five/\s/ or in this case just the Eco be thermostat mainly/\s/one there is a bigger speaker on the Eco B five/\s/ then on the Eco B4. it also has a faster processor/\s/and a glass front screen here

 I'm doing this in the winter/\s/ time. So I actually don't want to take this off/\s/because I kind of need it to maintain the heat/\s/ in the area that I'm in. So the Eco B itself is 4.2/\s/inches long with a width of 4

 Now I do apologise/\s/ for the echo that you may be hearing because/\s/well the thermostat is where the thermostat/\s/ is. I Also apologize I cannot show you the actual/\s/installation of this as the Eco B does come with/\s/ connector so that you can do this yourself. However/\s/my, older heating system I could not for the life/\s/ of me. figure it out

Terrible out of the box integration with home kit. Just a bad product in the market given it’s competition over all. Try and get your builder to not use it if possible.

Avoid Honeywell smart thermostat

Great features but unreliable HomeKit operation.

 It always just works. HomeKit automation and granular control is awesome with everything, even Google assistant never says anything like “Looks like kitchen light isn’t available right now.” It did that all the time with the C by GE stuff. So… after all that I brought a few old bulbs to work just to play around with (they have no resale value so why not)

 I switched to an Ecobee thermostat with smart sensors, all Hue and Lutron stuff for lights, plus some Meross and other vendor neutral things for plugs and what not. It has been so mind blowing how reliable and fast it is. It always just works. HomeKit automation and granular control is awesome with everything, even Google assistant never says anything like “Looks like kitchen light isn’t available right now

 I realized that it was never going to get HomeKit support and I wanted everything in my house to be vendor neutral so I can freely switch back and forth. Plus my wife has an Android phone. I switched to an Ecobee thermostat with smart sensors, all Hue and Lutron stuff for lights, plus some Meross and other vendor neutral things for plugs and what not. It has been so mind blowing how reliable and fast it is

The new “Cync” branded C by GE app makes me want to stop using all technology.

So I've had an interesting experience with this product so far.  I had to turn off Alexa's ability to make purchases because the thermostat ordered something while I was sleeping.  The SmartSensor's battery died within the first 2 weeks; so just plan to replace it early on with a higher quality one.  It sometimes has connectivity issues with my internet when none of my other devices have any problems

Good so Far

  Literally a feature of every thermostat in the world except Nest.  So I ripped it out and put in Ecobee and haven't looked back.  Sure the Nest looks a bit nicer on the wall but that's about it.

Sounds stupid but what got me on the Ecobee band wagon and had me ripping the Nest off the wall was the ability to indefinitely hold temps.  Nest is insistent that they know best what I want my damn temps at.  Never mind that I keep my house cold at night during the winter but don't want that when I have company over.  No Nest knows best

 I am not a fan of the Nest as it lacks a key feature, the ability to program a vacation. I really liked this feature with the Ecobee as I travel a lot. I could program it to go to a given temperature for a defined period of time. In general I feel the Ecobee is a more mature and feature rich Thermostat

 In my case I adjusted the reading down (-) 2 degrees Fahrenheit. I guess that is one way to save energy, it's tricking you into thinking the temperature is higher than it really is. Unfortunately I have not found a way to calibrate my Nest.  My only real negative and it has become a serious one is the Ecobee servers

  I just purchased another house and elected to go with an Ecobee again. This is now the 4 or 5 generation depending on how you look at it. I use Google Assistant primarily for lighting control, or music, but not my Thermostat, so I could care less about it, same for Voice capability. Also I think if you have your Thermostat programmed the way you like it, your are likely just to let it go and forget about it

 Ecobee is a small player compared to Nest, and if they ever ran into serious financial issue this could jeopardize the existence of their servers, potentially relegating your Thermostat to a basic programmable unit. That would be no fun.  In the meantime I will cross my fingers and hope they remain a viable operation into the future, and that they fix their server problems.

I like to sleep cool, but during the day the lower level is too cold as it tries to keep the upper level cool. I had alarms set to adjust my old non-programmable thermostat to avoid freezing downstairs (and paying too much on my electric bill)

  Tech support was very friendly and helpful the second time I called about the smart sensor. The first time I called, I was on hold for about 15 minutes and then it rang several times and it hung up on me. But once I got a hold of someone they solved my problem.  My biggest reason for buying this thermostat was that I work from home on the lower level of my home but the thermostat is upstairs

So even though I was just upstairs (near that hallway) for a couple hours, walking in and out of the kitchen, watching TV, etc., it still said that area was unoccupied. I’m very new to smart thermostats though so I’m sure there’s a setting I need to tweak online
