Setup was a breeze and the sound quality is actually quite good. These speakers get loud and sound very clear while connected to my computer via bluetooth, much better than most bookshelf speakers I've owned over the last 20-ish years. HOWEVER, the bluetooth connectivity is awful, like almost pointless. Seems very odd when they are always "on" and connected to a dedicated power source 100% of the time; the bluetooth system in my 10yr car is more adaptive than that.

The sound was just ok. The feel like I had better sound from my Alexa. It feel like the sound was not good on the high and low ends.

  There is one design flaw I have discovered - it has to do with the remote. The bloody thing is so small (and black) that I have lost it to the Chair Monster a few times. And it would be great if when a button on the remote is being pressed, a LED shines either on the remote or on the main speaker - just to let you know that the button action is being received.  I will do one more update and if the speakers continue to perform as they are now - I will bump the start to 5 - a full thumbs up

 However, I noticed that the Bass seems a touch flat - I cannot put my finger completely on the issue - it almost seems that the Bass is being clipped. It does not drastically affect the playback; however, if you are one that has ears so tuned that you can hear the ever so slight difference in tone shifts - then you may be bugged by play backs on BluRay DVDs.  Update (4/14/17) OK folks, it has been almost 60 days using these speakers daily and pretty much nothing has changed - I have watched regular TV shows where the audio is typically - well, let's just say "Not So Impressive" to really test a set of speakers. Hence, my thoughts (and they are my experiences, you may experience something different depending upon your hearing) are that these do make a great set of speakers for pretty much anything where you need good-to-great performance without dropping a ton of money

Second set, works great - the feature set is perfect for a lot of configurations.

 The problem is that the treble (highs) are a bit thin sounding, and the bass is boomy. These are not neutral or even close to accurate sounding (they are not studio monitors). They are multimedia, "fun" sounding speakers, that also manage to sound very good for their price. Good soundstage

 The Vizio obviously has more potent bass given the separate subwoofer, but these are no slouch in the bass department (they just won't produce very low bass). Sorry for the ramble, but I hope I provided some useful information.

The treble and bass controls help to alleviate the thin highs a bit and the boomy bass, but only to an extent. You can't really get them neutral or accurate using the treble/bass controls, but they do help, and are especially useful for tuning bass output to the size of the room

 Sounds better than using iPhone headphone output. I recommend a half decent DAC or soundcard with aux/line output. These do sound better than a $160 Vizio soundbar with wireless subwoofer I have connected to a TV. Better stereo separation and clearer highs and mids

 You don't want too much bass, not a whole lot, but enough for some depth. They do handle a lot of bass well enough, though, for the price, but they're not great that way; you're not paying for that. You're not going to rattle your windows and have it sound good at the same time. "Everyday speakers" is how Edifier describes them, and I'd concur

 It sounds fine, not as good as a wired connection. Although the range isn't great and the bluetooth cannot be turned off. This is a really bad design choice and if you live in an apartment, your neighbors can easily hijack the speakers to play creepy sounds in the middle of the night. Luckily, my neighbors are far enough away that they're out of range

  I can't give a review about the Bluetooth quality sound now because I haven't tested it, to be honest. I don't like Bluetooth compression sound and I barely use Bluetooth to listen to music, only at the car or some headphones I use sometimes. I leave the Bluetooth part to the enthusiasts of it. Before these speakers I was using some Bose that did a great job, but I wanted even more detail and volume. These Edifier pair has been a good choice

 Everything on TV is in 5.1 or 7.1 now, so I'd use a true surround speaker set, or a fancy soundbar that can decode all those channels.

 Edifier support shipped me a new pair of speakers a couple days later, and they arrived by UPS Ground a couple days after that. Disappointing initially but they didn't give me any guff, and the replacement set sounds great.  Bluetooth connects fast and sounds great too. The remote is basic but it works

 I can hear that. But it's not bad. And for $150 I'm really impressed.  The speakers create a big warm sound, great clarity in the mids and upper regions, enough power in the bass, they do my turntable justice and fill the room easily

 I have no complaints when it comes to these two factors. It's also worth noting that these easily beat the Edifier 1280s when it comes to sound quality. There is more range here and live performances are replicated more accurately. - Bluetooth pairing is easy and as long as you have a device connected to it, a different input select, or the device turned off, no other devices can connect to the speakers

 Outside of purchasing a 3rd party BT receiver, I see no solution to this (although I was told that more advanced version will soon be released - doesn't help me any now though).  Frustrated by the entire situation and it looks like I will probably end up returning these. Even the cheapest $12 bluetooth receivers on the market look to have a 30ft range - the $20 ones up to 50 ft. Whatever hardware is in these as far as the BT goes, must be quite outdated

 This part is quite frustrating to me, as I didn't figure it out until after the speakers were set up. The device they were connected to was 12 feet away. After contacting support and being told the range was +/- 10ft, I then moved the device sending the signal to 10ft away (as close as I could get). I still get crackling and signal drop out

UPDATE 12/11: Currently working with support to see if my issue is a defect with the pair of speakers I received. Changed the rating to a 4 for a time being. The rest of the review below still stands as of now.  PROS: - Cabinet Quality and Sound is excellent

 The speakers are definitely EQ'ed to have a higher-than-typical bass level when the treble/bass settings are set to "flat", but I actually prefer that to the alternative. And, there is more than enough adjustment in the treble/bass settings to compensate if you don't prefer that type of bias. Also, when I crank the speakers, they are able to handle the load without cracking/distortion, even at the highest levels. The remote is great and appropriately simple

I toyed around with several ideas for putting together a stereo/receiver/speaker plan for my turntable. After messing around with (and trying out) a couple of different budget receiver/speaker combos, I settled on this set for the ease of use and relatively tiny footprint. For the price, you really can't beat this option for both sound quality and features. The bluetooth connectivity is a great option, and the setup is dead simple
