I can tell you, if you are looking for smaller speakers with a MASSIVE sound, with insane volume - at no distortion either (I could only ever cause distortion on purpose by pushing EQ settings too far etc) - these things are AMAZING for hardcore Music loving, or just chilling and watching some Amazon Prime Video - no matter what you do - they will sound great!  I have done a TON of research before buying, I almost went with Klipsch's R15PM set - but EVERY audio magazine I compared the reviews directly between the R2000DB and the R15PMs - on the same outlets, EVERY reviewer was taken aback by the R2000DB's sound and ability to fill an enormous space, and how crisp and clear the soundstage was! Meanwhile the R15PM got good reviews, but none of the reviewers seemed half as enthusiastic about the performance of the product, with summaries of "R15PM sounds great, and will suit a small listening space well." When the SAME reviewer said (paraphrasing) "The R200DBs shocked us with their clarity and the sound stage is immense, every note is crisp and well placed - the volume of the sound was so great that it could comfortably fill even a decent sized venue with plenty of music" And that was the same reviewer talking about the R200DB and its priced competitor from a MUCH more well known brand, a brand that has been in the upper Echelons of Audio for the better part of 100 years - and by every metric I can find, Edifier who actually got some AMAZING talent from audio engineers from big names across the globe - managed to beat out the best in the space with just the ~10 or so years that Edifier has existed as an International HiFi Audio brand! It is really inspiring to think, the man who started Edifier started out by selling cheap PC speakers to mainland China, but his passion was always making the best Audio Equipment possible - and after he put out an open call to Audio Engineers, quite a few BIG names in the Acoustic Research community checked out Edifier, and the CEO/Owner's plans and QUICKLY joined the company! The rest, as they say, is history - and that means affordable TOP TIER AUDIO!  (5/11/21 UPDATE:) (I have now been using these speakers for well over a month, and whilst my initial review will stand as all of it is true, I have ONE MINOR GRIPE - I wish Edifier had given the Bass Drivers a little more headroom, either a higher max wattage and/or a driver that can throw a little further and withstand more power. It is by NO MEANS a huge design flaw - as Bass only starts to distort when the volume is up significantly on a song with heavy bass notes. The SOUND is still PERFECT! I just wish I could say that no matter what abuse I try to throw at these speakers it would always sound just as perfect

  Use the Optical Input for best sound, if you can!  And they have PLENTY of volume to fill a relatively large room, should be perfectly at home in a room with about 12' by 12' of space - stereo separation is PERFECT - and sound is CRYSTAL clear - especially using the Optical Audio for input!  First of all, I have been someone who can easily hear distortions and bad mixes, ever since I was 5 and my dad's giant Carver stereo with 4 HUGE Altec Speakers (which acted as corner tables they were that big) I have ALWAYS been an Audiophile since I was a little kid, back in the good old 90s of MASSIVE full stereo systems - he gave me his old Technics receiver to use in my stereo system - it was a SWEET piece for a 10 year old kid too! I had some Pioneer's with a 12" woofer, with 5" mids and 2" tweeters - it was 60 watts RMS per channel as well - I even bought upgraded speakers for the cabinets as they were old when I got them, I overbuilt them.  Anyway TL:DR  This sound BETTER than my old GIANT stereo, and ALMOST as loud and as booming as pop's old Carver + Altecs - and mind you, the entire cabinet for one of these speakers takes up less space than the 14" woofers on Dad's old Altecs! ALL THAT - and the Bass is ALMOST as loud, basically EVERY BIT AS DEEP - and handles the mids and highs even better from what I can recall!  And that is not hyperbole - those old Giant Alties had a rated response of 40 Hz to 20 KHz at +/-3 Db - ALL high end audio is rated MUCH more tightly, with not more than 3db of pop or dropoff allowed to make the spec - and these little beauties have a 5.5 out of 10! Only thing I MIGHT ask for still, is a Sub-out (luckily my PC has one) and for the R2000DB to be updated to use HDMI audio in as well as the current connectivity - as HDMI audio is supposedly the cleanest - but I probably would use Optical anyway. And MAYBE just a little more overhead in the Amps - I would LOVE for it to be impossible to cause distortion no matter what I do - but that is unreasonable anyway, its not like anything sounds good with the EQ maxed on every slider - as well as the Bass and Treble control on the speakers

03% THD or less! I mean you can crank the volume the whole way and you CANNOT hear any hiss unless you put your ear right next to the tweeter! (FYI if you do not know, ANYTHING below 1% THD - Total Harmonic Distortion, basically means that you cannot hear ANY noise that does not belong there - even top rated UBER expensive amps rarely get to 0.03%) - of course if you are pushing the digital amp circuit too far, you will start getting to 1% and beyond when playing music too loudly.  And for me to say a, well - not cheap, but not super expensive, audio device is a 9.5 out of 10 in sound and features, that means I am EXTREMELY IMPRESSED!

 It is by NO MEANS a huge design flaw - as Bass only starts to distort when the volume is up significantly on a song with heavy bass notes. The SOUND is still PERFECT! I just wish I could say that no matter what abuse I try to throw at these speakers it would always sound just as perfect. And I want to reiterate the FACT that the Bass sound is AMAZING for the size - it is only when you really push the drivers that they distort a bit on heavy bass, which is a shame. - This, and the lack of a dedicated Sub Out are the reasons I have downgraded to a 4 out of 5 star, but on a 100 scale, I would still rate them a solid 90!m If the bass drivers could NOT distort, and there was also a Sub out on this unit - like there is on the R1850DB - those 2 tings would have meant a PERFECT 100 out of 100!) Well, now that I know Edifier is truly Amazing, maybe I will eventually upgrade to the S2000 MkII - as that has basically everything I could want, and I KNOW the sound will be UNPARALLELED!  These little things punch EVERY BIT AS HARD as the OLD BIG BOYS! Read below, I am a 90s kid and was an audiophile ever since the days of GIANT Stereo systems cause so is my dad - and he hooked me up way back in the day too

I am an old school "Audiophile" and these speakers have some of the best sound I have ever heard!

 With the Klipsch here to replace them, I know I won't have the same stereo imaging - but for the bedroom I won't miss it at all. The Edifiers will be finding a new home shortly..

 Being an audio kind of guy for the past 25 years, I was genuinely shocked. The lows are strong, and really shine with R&B, Hip Hop and Electronic House. The bedroom doors actually rattle in the frames now; it’s remarkable sound from this thing.  All in all, the Edifiers are great for movies (as a sound bar type application) and for other general use stuff

 When I purchased those a couple of years ago, I thought I made a good decision. Good clean sound, good mids and clean highs. I loved that they were bluetooth, adjustable, and had some options for other inputs (optical, RCA). As time went on, I found myself needing to crank up the volume to get some “oomph” from them and get some decent bass

 All I can say is WOW WOW WOW. A day and night difference! The Klipsch is about the same size as one of the Edifiers, but puts out amazing, powerful sound. Strong, powerful mids, great highs (Klipsch), and unreal bass output. We have a smaller room, so the effect of the built-in long-throw (sub)woofer is really amazing

Look at the Edifier R2000DB, peoples seems in general happy with it. And then play the music using bluetooth , maybe optical if your pc has it. And use the remaining 100€ budget to add some form of source.

Best budget system for me under £300?

  Now, I'm no professional audiophile but I've listened to a lot of music in my day from a lot of different sources and I know what sounds good to me. And my friend, the highs are crisp, the mids are acceptable, and there's some nice punchy bass. The overall package is great for the price.  Two things however drop these from 5 to 4 stars for me

 I'm also using them as a chill out Bluetooth speaker setup for listening to spotify, and the main speakers for my vinyl listening. So 3 different usage situations in one means these multifunctional beauties are a super value. These speakers are phenomenal. I'm using them as a replacement for my televisions home theater soundbar, and they are an upgrade I'm glad I made. Edifier are probably one of the best recommendations within this price range. The r1700BT is well within budget and the (much nicer looking) R2000DB are at the upper range. They all have a similar signature with the higher you go the better detail and refinement you get. They all have a warm timbre, articulate highs, punchy bass and sound much MUCH bigger than they are

Upgrading from 20$ computer speakers, biggest value upgrade?

 They have a remote control I'm not terribly interested in using, but that is far more convenient than the knobs on the backs of the speakers.

 Just a tiny bit disappointing. The whole interface mechanism is a little backward; why can't the knobs just be on the front, along with a headphone jack, like in the good old days?  Apart from that, these speakers are perfect. Better specs and richer features than I could ever need. I like the customer questions asking if these things are loud enough for a party

For the most expensive speakers I've ever owned not to have something so basic is astounding. What's really aggravating about this, though, is that I either have to mute the speakers when plugging them in or unplugging them, or put up with this absolutely terrible pop at the full output capacity of the speakers as I do so. I'm probably just going to buy a headphone switcher to solve the problem

Hk go play(has battery issues though),  marshall stanmore. Klipsch the one is a good speaker but marshall stanmore is a better buy and is similar to klipsch the 3. Or audio pro c10 or riva festival if its available at your place.

I’ve had a JBL for four years and loved it. Soundcore gets mentioned a lot, Sony, Klipsch, Audioengine, Minirig. I prefer to have a one-piece set and not multiple speakers linked for stereo or a separate sub. Thanks!

$300 budget. Need the crispest, clearest sound available for the $, for both treble and bass. Suggestions?

The only downside is that I still haven’t been able to make the optical input work. This might be due to several things: I’m running the OS X beta, could be that I have a computer hardware issue also. I ordered a new cable which I will try

 When I politely explained my technical qualifications and that I had, I heard nothing else.  My wife has two 25 year old Bose floor-standing solid wood enclosed speakers in the living-music room and they are brilliant! The comparatively tiny Edifier speakers are nearly a match in sound quality. I would buy these again.  But for the one issue, this would clearly be a five-star product for me and it would be an easy call

I bought these speakers to replace four monitors that I had running out of a breakout box. At this moment, I’m listening to a recording of a live performance of a Beethoven trio (the “Archduke” in B-flat maj.) streaming from Interlochen Public Radio. (not the best reference source) The over-all sound quality is exceptional
