 The only difference is that it's twice or thrice the price. The main reason I purchased this cutting board was its repeated claims that it will never dull knives. It does. Hoo boy, does it ever

 I've noticed many other reviewers having trouble with serious warping. I've only noticed slight warping so not enough to take issue with right now but it's certainly not dishwasher safe if that's the sign of things to come. Listen, you're better off just getting a plastic cutting board.  tl;dr: dull knives

I hate plastic and wooden boards require a lot of upkeep so I wanted a wooden cutting board that would act like plastic but behave like actual wood. So, enter the Epicurean wood fiber cutting board that promises to do all these things and more. It doesn't and I should've known better because no such thing exists. Wooden boards (cypress, maple, etc) are almost always the best choice but they do need constant maintenance

 Listen, you're better off just getting a plastic cutting board.  tl;dr: dull knives. scratches easily. avoid

 We own very sharp Japanese knives which we sharpen once or twice a day with a steel followed by strapping. Believe me, these boards do not easily dull knives like plastic boards. As one other reviewer said, you can't use a lot of force while cutting up food and expect the board not to dull your knife. No material will allow you to do that

 Get these boards if you are a serious cook and want the best equipment to work on. Get a thick wood chopping board if you want to chop up food with a cleaver like they do in a Chinese BBQ place.

 Besides an occasional sanding, they look really good. Not new, but they certainly do not look like they have been used extensively for 7 years.  I'd also recommend hand washing. Dishwasher will warp the board and reduce the lifespan of the board significantly. Besides, the board is really too large for a normal dishwasher. We own 3 of these beauties for over 7 years now and as I said, we use them daily

It's different at first, but you will love it

 I felt like I had to run the plastic ones through the dish washer for every little thing because they get so cut up and harbor bacteria.  I've enjoyed how well these boards have held up with every day chopping and how gentle they are on our Wusthof knives. My only negative comment is about the price, Epicurean hurts my soul with every purchase.  The picture shows all of our Epicurean boards together

 I also liked the idea of non-slip feet, but felt that might be another area for bacteria to get stuck, so I went with the classic design on the others. Epicurean boards are nonporous, so I don't feel guilty hand washing (although they are dishwasher safe). I have a light wood colored Epicurean curring board that I absolutely LOVE. That being said, I thought the black one would be just a good despite the reviews. Sorely mistaken. Smelled weird when I unwrapped it

 Almost impossible to remove from a couple of my ceramic bowls. Unfortunately I'll have to throw it away after only one use. Just.

I a kitchen product geek who researches and carefully buy stuff for my cooking pleasure. I've avoided these boards for years because they seemed too pricy and I had plenty of traditional wood boards.  Got this board to use for meat and fish instead of regular wood boards. It is smaller than I'd like for an all-the-time board and yet I find myself reaching for it nearly all the time
