In recent years there has been a noticeable increase in the number of bamboo models offered on the market. The reasons behind this proliferation are as plentiful as the options. Many bamboo boards share the same positive characteristics as their hardwood counterparts, such as being naturally anti-microbial and durable but are also thinner, lighter, and significantly less expensive. After directly comparing several of the highest-rated and most popular bamboo models, the Greener Chef was our review team's favorite. It resisted staining and splintering better than any other bamboo option and was thinner and easier to store. 
The main downside is that it isn't nearly as blade-friendly as hardwood options &#40;though still not as harsh as a composite board&#41;. As with any wood board, you should oil your board around once a month, but we found this model was more forgiving in this regard. The Greener Chef is perfect for someone who wants something more anti-bacterial than a plastic board but doesn't want to deal with a thick, heavy, expensive hardwood model.

Fall apart after 3-4 months

 The board was NEVER left in water, but split down the middle after 3 years. My John Boos board is so old i can't remember when i purchased it. Good cutting boards should last when you take care of them, this one didn't.

We have gently used and cared for this fine cutting board for about 20 months. Amazon recommended reaching out to the distributor, so I emailed the details and photos of the board to help@greenchef.com on 11/20, then circled back on 11/29. Now 12/7 and still no reply

 We always hand wash it with mild dish detergent, as with all our bamboo utensils and storage containers - never in the dishwasher. Can you respond with regard to the Lifetime Replacement warranty? Actually we like the board so much that an exchange would be most welcome! And I haven't heard back. Frankly speaking, I am really considering purchasing this board again. With care, the board lasted us 21 months, and to me, that's a very satisfactory length of time

 Allowing bacteria to grow. Can I bleach this, or would that hurt the bamboo.? If not completely disinfected will microscopic bacteria grow and contaminate my food the next time I use the board. Obviously I like things clean, yet these are my concerns

It looks like a lovely cutting board and likely is because my smaller one is serving me well. However, in order to register the board to get the warranty you have to have Facebook Messenger. I deleted my Facebook account in February 2017. I refuse to have anything to do with it or any of its offspring

 It arrived three days ago. I oiled it up with 4 coats of John Taylor's Butcher Block Conditioner before using it, and it's looking pretty good.  The cutting board took the oiling quite well. Just one thing to mention: After I oiled it, I wiped it down with a rag and noticed a few tiny splinters/fibers (like the size of thread or a hair, and some a little bigger) sticking up from the surface

  Update: 10/15/2015 ======================= The cutting board just keeps getting better and better with use. No more fibers/splinters to speak of..

  Update: 5/25/2015 ==================== Had to drop one star because the cutting board needed additional sanding and oiling before it was ready for use. After a few washings splinters and fibers kept pulling up from the surface. I even had to pull a splinter out of my palm. So I took it into the shop and knocked off the splinters with some 80 grit sandpaper, then finished it with some 220

Fantastic bamboo cutting board. Perfect size. (Updated to 5 stars from previous 4-star review)

 The overall design is sleek, and the finish is quite smooth. In addition, my understanding is that wood is one best materials for a cutting board because it wears well, can be easily cleaned, and doesn't damage or dull knives.  I personally never leave any kitchen item that is made of wood soaking in dishwater, so I definitely won't do that with this cutting board either. I also would never dream of putting it in the dishwasher

  All in all, this bamboo cutting board is looking like a good investment for my kitchen. I massively prefer it to the large, plastic one that I already own.
