Toner cartridges for colour laser printers are extremely expensive while ink bottles for tank printers like the Epson Ecotank ET-5800 are extremely inexpensive.

Ink cartridges are so expensive especially when printing a lot of web pages and documents at home in both colors and B&amp;W with previous HP OfficeJet Pros (8600 and 8028e). Also, copying, scanning, and faxing through old fashion phone lines. Do toners last longer? Are laser ones any better even though they cost more?

Time to for an one in one color laser printer instead of inkjet?

 I want to like it and needed something that would print 11x17 or I don’t think I would have spent this much for an ok printer. It has potential and hopefully with a few patches it will be great.

Want to love it

It consists of thousands of microscopic ink nozzles which are individually triggered to spray ink onto the page. Recommendation:. While slightly over your budget, the Epson EcoTank Pro ET-16600 should meet most of your requirements. This is a wide-format printer capable of handling full Super-B (13x19") paper size, and uses long-lasting pigment-based inks which are ideal for selling artwork prints

I'll be as straightforward but as detailed as I can be.

I take photos and want to get into printing them, possibly even selling some in the future.

This is a hobby, not a job, so while I'm ok stretching the budget to buy quality (say, up to about $800-900 CAD), it is NOT an investment. 

Requirements:

- LOW MAINTENANCE; there will be times when I print 10 photos in a week, and other times where I go 10 weeks without printing one. I know some cartridge based printers don't like not being used for longer periods.

- LARGE FORMAT; ideally it'll print 13x19, but if not at least 11x17.

-PHOTO PRINT QUALITY; Doesn't need to be the best at anything (ie color photos, b&amp;w, etc) but shouldn't be terrible at anything.

Nice to haves:

- A scanner would be a nice bonus

- Refillable tanks to make it as economical as possible

That's pretty much all I've got. I'll be new to the world of printing so if any more information is required, let me know!

Recommendation for low maintenance, mostly photos but occasional docs!

I am also disappointed in the print quality of photos.  I set it on High quality, and it just wasn't very sharp.  Scrapbooking is the main reason I bought the printer and the photo quality is very important!

She's happy enough with the output from this printer but would like the option of being able to enlarge her prints to A3. So basically an A3 capable AIO device.

Overall I think she'd prefer a printer that's able to load a bundle of A3 paper rather than an "occasional" A3 printer where a single sheet needs to be loaded for a specific print job. So that probably implies something on the larger side. That's fine.
Budget would be £300, though less would be preferable. Lastly, being able to get cheaper third party ink would be good..!

Any recommendations (or even just warnings of ones to avoid) would be appreciated. Thanks

Recommendations for an A3 printer with scanner

The wireless sometimes stops responding and have to be shutdown and restarted to work, But themain issue is the quality of the pigment print of pictures, tried all kinds of professional paper in 4x6 but the quality is abysmal, inkjets have more vibrant and true colors. The positive points are the wide format and the speed of printing, but not enough to justify. I wonder if I should have bought the 15000.
