Toner cartridges for colour laser printers are extremely expensive while ink bottles for tank printers like the Epson Ecotank ET-5800 are extremely inexpensive.

Ink cartridges are so expensive especially when printing a lot of web pages and documents at home in both colors and B&amp;W with previous HP OfficeJet Pros (8600 and 8028e). Also, copying, scanning, and faxing through old fashion phone lines. Do toners last longer? Are laser ones any better even though they cost more?

Time to for an one in one color laser printer instead of inkjet?

.. I tried for a variety of shots, wanting to see the colors this printer put out, as well as the detail -- I love being able to see the storm on the horizon in some shots for instance.

 (When putting the paper into the printer, I also go through the prompts on the touchscreen to tell it what kind of paper I've loaded. Telling it in both places has resulted in EXCELLENT print quality thus far.)  At this point, I just need my rear paper feeder to stop jamming/crumpling paper, and this may well be the best printer I've gotten in a LONG time.  I tried to make a short video showing some of the pictures I was able to print off of this Epson, the pictures have been taken over the past 10-15 years, so some of them are off older digital cameras, some of them were taken with 10x zoom

 ‎T552920-S has the other 5 inks, 3 colors, one variation of black, and grey.)  Pages come out of this printer feeling like they have a lot of ink on them, and I have found after several days some of the 8.5 x 11 borderless printed images have started curling at the edges, I think that is because of the large amount of ink put on the paper.

 I tried for a variety of shots, wanting to see the colors this printer put out, as well as the detail -- I love being able to see the storm on the horizon in some shots for instance.

Color me over 90% in love...

Because of this I was looking into high quality inkjets that don’t have crazy ink prices (I had a canon before and I have to sell it because I can’t afford to keep buying ink every 10 pages). I came across the Ecotank Photo printer (ET-8550) which is a bit over budget but reading into the specs + how long it lasts I’m in love.

. but crashed when trying to print a test page. Then tried to connect to it again but the connection checker crashed. Tried on two machines

Works well when it works, software is horrific, bricked the printer and I had to return mine

The output results from that seem fine. The ink wells are full as I've had the printer maybe a week?. It happens on both standard and high quality printing.

 So, for me, the app is less than useful.  All-in-one:  This printer can handle anything a good all-in-one can handle, with the obvious addition that it's a supertank and it can print very high quality photos.  Who this is best for:  Due to the premium on this unit, unless you plan to VERY REGULARLY print photos, there are better options for most. In other words, if you're primarily going to use this as an all-in-one and rarely print photos, it's hard to justify the premium this unit commands

<p>EDIT: I initially said 300gsm due to that being the heaviest cardstock I see at my local stores. It seems this was a slightly high number to pick. Looking for purchase recommendation for cardstock and home office printer

 The ink loading process requires a ton of care and can be very messy if done wrong since it involves transferring the liquid ink into the printer from their bottles. I managed to not spill any because I knew if I didn't get the bottle to sit in right the first time, there would definitely be some leaking and staining on who knows what. I tried printing a few photos on glossy photo paper at first and they turned out horrible and blurry. The simple mistake I made was I loaded the glossy paper facing up when it should have been facing down

The photos look great but this is not a plug and go printer! Difficult setup for first timers.
