So what are you getting for sixteen hundred and ninety nine dollars that you're not going to get out of something like a 65 inch TV like the one behind me or a projector that's cheaper? Well, you're getting a vertical and horizontal axis ship, so if you need to set the projector aside from you, it could actually do a tilt in order for it to change the angle of the projector so you can actually still have a crisp image that doesn't look distorted even when the projector is shooting from off axis. So that's really useful and a great feature as far as I'm concerned that Epson put in the projector that is not on many of the other projectors

 you're able to control which picture mode you want obviously switching between HDMI inputs and all those other good features that you would normally see in a television remote. So I think overall if you're looking for a really high quality projector in this kind of 1500 to $2,000 range, that the Epson offers a ton of features, contrast ratios, shadow detail, the resolution, the fact that it has HDR, and a number of other features that set it apart from other projectors and televisions in its own category. A convenient bookshelf on the opposite wall made this all too easy with an Epson 3800 and lens shift.

There are a lot of things that aren't ideal, or budget in this room/setup, but it's still been absolutely amazing and a lot of fun.

With resolution image size matters. Since the primary benefit of a projector is making a very large picture it is more likely to matter. Sit 10' away from a 65" tv and you're not as likely to notice the difference in resolution than if you are 10' away from a 120" screen. It's the same amount of pixels spread across nearly 4x the screen area. 

I agree with other posters that image quality, contrast, brightness are all at least equally important.

I went the 4K pixel-shifting route (Epson Home Cinema 4010), and it absolutely blew my previous 1080p projector out of the water. $2000 as opposed to whatever the true 4K units run, I felt it was a great buy and have been enjoying it the last year.

I know this may sound like a dumb question, but I was reading that getting a 4k projector is not as much of a big deal, if you get a projector that is 1080p HDR. Vs the equivalent for a TV. Is that true or not?  

The cost of "true" 4k projectors are really expensive vs a pixel shift one (still more expensive than a TV). Is there a real difference to the naked eye between the two or not?

 I'm Joster and stay safe guys! [Music] Alright, so inside the box is of course the projector, the remote, the power cable, and a quick setup instructions. Now one thing I noticed is that the remote is Huge! It has so many buttons it could be overwhelming for somewhat, but you get used to it. On the front you'll find the projector lens with focus and zoom adjustment knobs, a ventilation, and also a sensor now on top. We have the Power button, menu access and also lens shift knobs to help adjust the image either horizontal or vertical

 in this case I'm using Elite Screens Scenic Ray 5d Tap Tension Alr screen which helps rejecting ambient light and it enhances colors and contrast and black levels. Alright guys, so there are so many options in this projector so let me show you in more detail. Alright guys, so let me show you more in-depth options that this projector has to offer. But before I continue, I wanted to show you

 I feel that it's it's huge, it's it's really big. but I guess if you're going to uh ceiling mount this projector it's not going to be a big deal. But other than that guys I mean this projector has some really really high quality features the the the lens shifting that you can have this projector in different areas and just use the shifting, also the focus and the zoom. They come very very handy
