 I love my KA-Bar but it has a tendency to roll in the hand because of the round handles. So my quest continues..

 Unfortunately, as I held the knife I knew that it would cut me if I carried it: The handles are slick, the jimping too far forward and not defined enough, the handle profile is slightly off at the index finger. Additionally the finger choil lacks sufficient depth. Don’t get me wrong, this is an excellent knife and may work well in someone else’s hands and all of these complaints are fixable, but I am on a quest to replace my Nimravus. I have tried the RAT 7 and the RAK

  This ESEE comes with a little chunk of paracord and a stopper-thing. The sheath is made well enough for my purposes. The belt clip part is very sturdy, and comes un-attached, if you were wanting to lace this onto a pack or something instead and didn't need the clip.  The black coating is very nice and thick

 Both of my friend's knives have been camping and used for batoning. The Becker had noticeably worn through the coating; the ESEE appeared barely scuffed. Neither one had broken tips.  Unless you have a very real need for the much heavier and thicker blade on something like a Ka-bar Becker, and not just "because" or you think you need it (you probably don't), this ESEE checks all the right boxes and at a really good price too

This is a large, beefy, sharp from the factory and useful tool. I have heard/read reviewers and "experts" claim there is no reason to carry a blade this large. I have been collecting knives, always below $75, for several years. I have recently come to the conclusion, that I have often heard, that it is better to have one good tool than multiple Ok tools

 I also have the 5, 4, 3, and the Izula 2. The Esse 5 is nice, but it is more of a special purpose blade for me, given it's thickness. The Esse 6 seems to be a better all purpose blade for me. Ergonomics are not perfect, but are more than satisfactory

My Favorite Esse Knife!

 Anyway, I replaced it with this version with the 3D contoured handle. The first thing I noticed about this knife is how dang SHARP it came right out of the box! I have several other Esee knives, and they always come sharp, but this is on a different level. Kudos to Esee!  I love the handle ergonomics of this particular version of the 6. It feels very good in my hand
